NEWS
The WWE Network will be uploading WCW Saturday Night episodes from January 9, 1993 to May 22, 1993. This is the period with Ricky Steamboat in a lot of main events, a lot of Dustin Rhodes, Steve Austin & Brian Pillman as a tag team and the return to WCW of Ric Flair.

Shane Douglas will be starting a podcast called "Franchised with Shane Douglas" every week debuting on 8/27,which would be the 25th anniversary of the Douglas win of the NWA world title where the threw the belt down and called it the ECW title, which debuted that title.

Mick Foley praised Buddy Murphy after Murphy’s match against Daniel Bryan on SmackDown: “Watching #SmackDown on DVR, so I’m a little late to the pardukey, but @WWE_Murphy is the real deal, isn’t he? Two great performances in a row is no fluke.”

WWE Hall of Famer and AEW announcer Jim Ross discussed the new Wednesday night war between NXT and AEW during the latest episode of Grilling JR. Ross said that he’s not surprised that Vince McMahon decided to move NXT off the Network and on to USA Network on the same night that AEW is on TNT…and not only that, but to launch it two weeks before AEW debuts. He said he worked closely with Vince for 25 years and he’s not one to lay back and see AEW grow independently and freely. “He feels threatened for some crazy reason and I think that’s interesting to me,” Ross said. JR added that competition is good for everyone and they will be very happy to compete with AEW, noting that they knew it was going to be a competition from the very beginning and it’s not going to be an easy road. Ross alluded that in no meeting with AEW officials and AEW President Tony Khan it was ever mentioned that they’re gunning for WWE and the subject was “never brought up,” and blamed the comparison and “shots fired” news to the wrestling media online. The former Raw announcer also said that Vince McMahon must be “aware and cautious” about All Elite Wrestling and he has to be considering he took off NXT from loyal subscribers to the WWE Network to cable television. Despite the competition that they will give to WWE, Ross said that no one in the world is going to surpass WWE as the best sports entertainment company in the world, citing the big head start, infrastructure, and power in numbers. “But it’s irrelevant…the goal of AEW is to provide a great product to lapsed wrestling fans…among others, with an athletically-based old-school-oriented product. And to make – more importantly – a profit for the Khan family,” JR continued.

The foreigners being brought in for CMLL's 8/30 World Grand Prix are Matt Taven, Kenny King, Jay Briscoe, Mark Briscoe, Mecha Wolf 450, Oraculo, Luke Hawx and Big Daddy. No, not that Big Daddy, although imagining him working Arena Mexico would be something. It's Big Daddy Yumyum, who had a very brief run years back in New Japan as part of Bruce Tharpe's NWA stable. They also announced they would not be streaming this show live. The Mexican names in the tournament are in the current Observer.

Jake Roberts is scheduled for an Australia tour from February 7-18, 2020 doing talk shows in Geelong, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane.

Hollywood Reporter and wire services reported the following: TV station giant Sinclair Broadcast Group has completed its $10.6 billion deal to acquire 21 regional Fox Sports networks that Walt Disney agreed to sell to get regulatory approval for its $71.3 billion acquisition of large parts of 21st Century Fox. After adjusting for minority interests, Sinclair said the aggregate purchase price for the RSNs is $9.6 billion. Sinclair picked up the sport network properties via a newly formed, indirect wholly owned subsidiary called Diamond Sports Group, in which Entertainment Studios CEO Byron Allen becomes an equity and content partner. The acquisition will make Sinclair, based in the Baltimore, Md (and a major provider of news), a big player in sports cable programming. Sinclair president and CEO Chris Ripley in a statement said, "We are very excited about the transformational aspects the RSN acquisition will have on Sinclair, and are eager to bring those opportunities to life." Among the sports channels it is buying are Fox Sports West in Los Angeles and Fox Sports San Diego. Sinclair owns, operates and/or provides services to 191 TV stations in 89 U.S. markets. The RSN portfolio gives Sinclair the exclusive local rights to 42 professional teams, comprising 14 Major League Baseball teams, 16 NBA teams and 12 NHL pro hockey teams. The Sinclair deal for the RSNs received the approval of the U.S. Department of Justice after Disney similarly secured regulatory approval to acquire certain assets of 21st Century Fox if it spun off the RSNs. Regulators argued Disney's ownership of ESPN and the regional channels would give the Hollywood conglomerate too much power in the sports TV sector, requiring it to sell the regional networks. In the purchase, Sinclair acquired:
Fox Sports Arizona
Fox Sports Detroit
Fox Sports Florida
Fox Sports Sun
Fox Sports North
Fox Sports Wisconsin
Fox Sports Ohio
SportsTime Ohio
Fox Sports South
Fox Sports Carolina
Fox Sports Tennessee
Fox Sports Southeast
Fox Sports Southwest
Fox Sports Oklahoma
Fox Sports New Orleans
Fox Sports Midwest
Fox Sports Kansas City
Fox Sports Indiana
Fox Sports San Diego
Fox Sports West
Prime Ticket
Fox College Sports
No word if Ring of Honor, owned by Sinclair, will get broadcast clearances in some or all of these markets.

On Saturday night immediately following the conclusion of NXT Takeover UK: Cardiff, the WWE Network will air a special documentary titled Exotic: The story of Adrian Street and Miss Linda. The 78-year-old Welsh former pro wrestler is considered a legend in the British wrestling scene. He made his debut in 1957 and wrestled as a heel throughout the world along with his valet and real-life wife Linda. Following their retirement from in-ring action, Street ran the Skull Crushers Wrestling School in Florida and the two also started creating wrestling gear. Perhaps their most famous creation is the Dude Love ring gear that Mick Foley wore during his feud with Steve Austin. The synopsis for the documentary reads, “British sports-entertainment legend Adrian Street reflects on his life and career in and out of the ring. Join him as he relives his journey to becoming one of the most outlandish and polarizing Superstars in history, and witness his emotional experience coaching at the WWE Performance Center in the United Kingdom.”
