Can McGowen Avoid the Consequences Of His Actions in UWE?

Actions have consequences.
When someone steals from a grocery store, they might get lucky and told to just put it back and apologise. Or they might get criminally prosecuted.
When a man physically manhandles a woman, he get a stern talking to by her friends/family. Or he might get criminally prosecuted.
And when someone abuses their power....well, in the professional wrestling world, they don't tend to wait for criminal prosecution. They simply take matters into their own hands.
Last month, UWE Champion Alex Royal turned on NAW Tag Team Champion Fuel en route to recapturing that title. He also aligned himself against with UWE Director of Wrestling Operations Dustin McGowen. But after the match was over, McGowen, Royal and the entire Proclamation attacked Fuel and left him laying in the ring, barely able to move under his own power. They only stopped when Jon Cross dove into the ring and got straight up in Royal's face. And this began a wedge between Royal and Cross as the student had clearly crossed a boundary that the teacher did not appreciate. So much so that Cross entered the Sooner Stampede, allowing him to challenge for the UWE Title at their 10th anniversary show.
There were some questions about Fuel's physical condition following that attack, but most of those questions were answered when Fuel participated in the WFC shows in July. So it should have come as no surprise when Fuel came out to confront McGowan. But McGowen was prepared for that and a war of words ensued where McGowen brought up some very personal issues with Fuel, including how Graham Bell essentially disrupted Fuel's personal life a couple of years ago. At that point, McGowen sensed he needed something to appease Fuel and made the UWE Title rematch in August a Non-Sanctioned match. With Fuel in agreement to that, McGowen then doubled down and ordered Fuel out of the building for the remainder of the show. Fuel was irate and promised that this was not the last that McGowen would see of him that night. but was escorted out the front of the building.
Before McGowen could relax though, Jon Cross appeared on the balcony. He demanded that McGowen produce Alex Royal so that a conversation between them could he had. All McGowen could produce were excuses for why Royal wasn't going to come out. So Jon made it clear that before the end of teh show, he wanted Royal or he was coming for McGowen!
And true to his word, after the main event, Cross appeared and said it was "About that time", once again insisting that Royal come out. McGowen tried to stave this off by sending UWE Tag Team Champions Ethan Cole and Reed after him, but that only served to briefly slow him down. Cross entered the ring. McGowen exited the ring and tried to run to the back, but was stopped by WFC Hometown Heroes Champion J. D. McGowen was trapped with nowhere to go....until J. D. leveled cross with a huge clothesline! "The Everyday Man" was now the newest member of the Proclamation and a gangland-style beating soon occurred!
But then, true to his word, Fuel came running back in to save his friend! And together, the former Ring Intruders cleared the ring! After the show was over, in an exclusive video shown a few days later, Cross agreed to be the special referee in the Fuel/Royal match on August 24th. But perhaps the most important thing to come out of this entire night was that Jon Cross stated in the ring that even though he has the opportunity to face Alex Royal for the UWE Title at Showdown X, if Fuel regains the title next month, Cross still intends to face Royal. He's not back to collect titles. He is back to collect egos. He will start with Royal. He will almost certainly proceed to McGowan. And then who knows who will be in the sites of Cross?
Dustin McGowen needs to accept that consequences occur for everyone. No one is above them. There is still time for him to save himself. But knowing McGowen and his mentality, he will utilise every trick in the book to make sure that he avoids any punishment if at all possible. And that will make it all teh sweeter for the UWE fans if and when Cross and/or Fuel finally give him what he deserves.
