Black Looks for Presciption To Success In OKC Tag Team Scene

If you put the right combination of material or ideas together, you get results. That is basically what a prescription of medicine is, after all. And that is what Doc Black hoped to do this weekend at the LLR events in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
No stranger to the tag team scene in the OKC area, Black and Gorgeous Garcia formed a team called the Gorgeous MDs back in March of this year. Their initial outing was not as successful as they wanted as they fell in defeat to Bearzerker. But like many successful championship-minded competitors, when the stakes were raised, the performances got better. The next month, the MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Title tournament began and Gorgeous MDs were again in an unenviable position against the team of MSWA Mid-South Champion Paul Puertorico and Gemini [2nd], who held the Any Time/Any Title contract. Space Age (in varying forms) had experienced much success in most of the federations they ventured into, but this time, some miscommunication (and possibly mistrust?) led to Gorgeous MDs scoring the upset victory and advancing in the tournament.
Sadly, that victory may have been for naught, as MSWA announced a hiatus after the April event and in the meantime, there have been some behind-the-scenes shake-ups with talent. And while Doc Black may not be returning to MSWA in the foreseeable future, that doesn’t mean that the Gorgeous MDs are completely a thing of the past.
Still, all that was seemingly kept under wraps at the LLR event this past Friday when Black instead teamed with #DexStar Hardaway against the Space combination of Gemini [2nd] & Elijah Sparks. Unofficially calling themselves the “Space Invaders”, It seemed like their experience together (limited though it is) would serve them well against a team that had never teamed before. But the crafty veteran tactics of Hardaway and the confidence and off-putting personality of Black, combined once again with some miscommunication on the part of the Space Age team, meant victory for the non-masked duo. But that was not the end of the story by any means.
The following match saw Gorgous Garcia take on Jerry Bostic. Again, the experience factor played in well here as Bostic brings over a decade of in-ring knowledge while Garcia is still in his second year as a pro. Garcia was obviously not prepared for the non-traditional tactics of “The Boss” and it seemed like Bostic was on his way to victory when Black made his way unannounced to the ringside area. While drawing the attention of referee George Knight, Black threw his BCW Heritage Rivalry Championship belt to Garcia, who slammed it up against the head of Bostic. This left “The Boss” unable to defend himself and Garcia easily picked up the victory.
The next night, Space Age was able to claim a small level of retribution by defeated Gorgeous MDs, but the real question is where Black and Garcia go from here. With Black on the outs (allegedly) with MSWA management, will Garcia have to pick another partner for the tournament? If so, who will it be? And what is Black’s future in tag team wrestling, if any? Whatever the answers, it’s obvious that Doc Black is not interested in the first order of medicine: Do No Harm. He is perfectly willing to inflict a much damage on his opponents as he can.
