Farat Derails Chicago Monster to Claim MSWA Title

Farat Derails Chicago Monster to Claim MSWA Title

Posted: Sep 11th 2007 By: CMBurnham

Like many real life fairy tales, it seemed like the ending was too good to be true. And that was the case last Saturday as MSWA commissioner Halo walked out to the ring with the MSWA Mid-South title belt, previously held by Brad Michaels. Michaels had not appeared at an MSWA event since August 5 and was therefore stripped of the title for failing to defend within the 30-day period. Halo told MSWA ring announcer Jesse Storm that he didn't want to go through a tournament. He wanted to give the fans their new champion that night.

And then, the surprise as the arabic strains hit and Al Farat returned to MSWA for the first time in 8 months. Farat surprised everyone as he made his way to the ring and, after some quick put downs towards America and Oklahoma in particular, he insisted that he be in the Battle Royal to determine the new MSWA champion that night. Halo reminded Farat that he didn't like people making demands of him and that he was a no-nonsense type of commissioner. He then set up a match with an opponent to be named later. If Farat won the match, he would qualify for the Battle Royal. And despite Farat's protests, Halo said he would not reveal that opponent until after intermission.

When intermission had finished, Halo returned to the ring, a huge smile on his face. He called out "The Crimson Prince" and then, almost unable to contain the excitement, he announced that Farat would be facing the 400 lb. monster from Chicago, 3rd Rail! The match did not go Farat's way very much as everything he tried seemed to have no effect on Rail, until Farat went for the eyes. A couple of well-applied nerve holds also wore the big man down. And then, the moment of truth as Farat applied a small package and the referee counted 3. But who was the winner? It appeared that both men had their shoulders down for the count. The referee said that he counted down Rail's shoulders. Jesse Storm, sitting at a different viewpoint, said he saw Farat's shoulders down. Halo was faced with a tough decision and decided that, since there was no clear winner, it was a double pin and BOTH MEN qualified for the Battle Royal. Again, Farat was incensed, as he knew that he would have to once again face the big man in the main event for the championship.

The competitors in the Battle Royal were mostly young, hungry guys who wanted a chance to prove themselves and maybe get their first taste of gold. After several swift eliminations, what started as 15 men came down to 4: Farat, 3rd Rail, Shane Rawls and UWF06 Light Heavyweight Champion Montego Seeka. Seeka went up to the top rope for a high-flying maneouvre and was shoved out of the ring by Farat. Shortly after that, Farat got rid of Rawls and the 2 opponents again stared at each other across the ring. But as Rail went to charge at Farat, the New Age Syndicate, who had been eliminated previously but were still hanging around ringside, pulled down the top rope so all Farat had to do was side-step and allow Rail's momentum to carry him over the top to the floor. Your winner and new champion: Al Farat.

The Sanders twins' assistance of Farat should come as no surprise to people familiar with the history of MSWA. Besides having a current ongoing feud with the South Side Soul Assassins, the Syndicate are also former allies of the Disciples of Allah. With no one else to back him up, perhaps Farat has rehired Scott & Shawn for protection.

Sadly, another proud American title is once again in the hands of a foreign competitor. Farat now joins his fellow High Society member , UWF06 Champion Jerry Bostic, as the champion of a federation and one has to wonder if Farat will be wearing his newly acquired gold at the UWF06 show this Friday.
