Burnham Is Worst Nightmare for Stackhouse On January 19th

Every night, the nightmares begin again.

BPW Oklahoma Champion Sam Stackhouse must certainly be spending his nights wondering how he can take it all back. How he can just make things right with BPW Commissioner C. M. Burnham.

Every since the vicious attack on Burnham by Stackhouse prior to defeating Spyder for the BPW Oklahoma TItle, the two men have had nothing pleasant to say about each other. But unlike other times, where Burnham allowed the actions of wrestlers under his leadership to be stopped by other wrestlers, this time, he chose to be proactive. Knowing the history between the two men, Burnham signed a contract to bring in IMPACT Wrestling Hall of Farmer Abyss to face Stackhouse on January 19th for the Oklahoma Title. This was revealed via a video message from Abyss at the October BPW event. And Abyss went so far as to declare that the match should be his specialty: A Monster’s Ball Match. No rules. All weapons are legal!

That alone sent shivers up the spine of Stackhouse, who immediately begged off and tried to convince Burnham that he was sorry and this had all been a joke. But it was no laughing matter for Burnham and the rest of the Payroll quickly went into panic mode to try and figure out how to handle this.

At the beginning of the December 29th event, Burnham announced that there was one more stipulation to the Stackhouse/Abyss match that needed to be taken care of. But before that stipulation could be revealed, Bobby Burns, Cody Burns & Thrash came charging to the ring. Bobby Burns grabbed the microphone and began to demand that this stipulation be explained right then! Burnham calmly explained that this was going to be a SPECIAL match and therefore it needed a SPECIAL referee. And while he had full authourity to appoint that special referee, he decided to give the Payroll an opportunity like he always did. Since Cody and Thrash did not have a match, he proposed a tag team match. If the Payroll won, they got to pick the special referee, but if the team Burnham chose won, he got to pick the referee. Bobby Burns immediately declared that it was only right for him to be the referee, but after being calmed down from that, accepted the match. At that point, Burnham brought out the new BPW Oklahoma Tag Team Champions, Brandon Groom and Pastor Brent! The Payroll was not happy with this decision and jumped the champions from behind, trying to upset Burnham’s plan. But Groom and Brent were resilient and fought back against the Payroll. It was essentially a 2-on-3 match as Bobby Burns was not shy about making his presence known physically during the confrontation. But in the end, the champions proved why they deserve the belts.

With the victory secured, Burnham began to answer Bobby Burns’ demand to know who the special guest referee was, but instead decided to hold off until later, promising the fans that he WOULD make the announcement before the end of the show. But after the last 4 slots in the Ticket to the Top Ladder Match were filled, Sam Stackhouse, along with Chelsea, came and attacked those winners, demanding that Burnham tell him who the referee was. Burnham said that wouldn’t happen until Stackhouse defended his title against Steven Cruze. It was a valiant effort by the “Duke of Destruction”, but Stackhouse didn’t care about winning the match as long as he walked away with the title, so he grabbed a steel chair and wholloped Cruze with it, earning a DQ.

Stackhouse again demanded that Burnham reveal who the referee would be and Burnham said that he would do better than tell him, he would SHOW HIM. Burnham then headed to the back and all Stackhouse and the audience could hear was Burnham calling for the special ref on the microphone. After a quick search, Burnham found him and ordered him to go out to the ring.

And that was when Burnham stepped through the curtain and revealed himself, in a referee’s shirt.

Stackhouse’s face told the whole story. And Burnham promised all the fans that as long as he has anything to say about it, Stackhouse will NOT leave on January 19th as the BPW Oklahoma Champion! This absolutely enraged Stackhouse and he attempted to hit Burnham with the same steel chair he used on Cruze, but Burnham side-stepped it and Stackhouse connected with the top rope, causing it to bounce back and hit him in the face, much to the amusement of the fans!

So with all bases now covered, it certainly seems like time is running out for Stackhouse. A Monster’s Ball match with a hated enemy as the referee appears to only lead to one decision, but remember, Stackhouse has the Payroll behind him and the match has essentially no rules. So maybe Stackhouse is not done yet as champion.

At least that’s what he keeps telling himself every night before he goes to bed....and the nightmares begin again.
