Cherokee Nation needs 200 new employees

Cherokee Nation needs 200 new employees

Posted: Sep 29th 2018 By: Charles Ely

The Cherokee Nation is hiring for a long list of positions for tribal operations, from the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel to other tribal enterprises and services.

They have 200 new paychecks, and they are aggressively searching for employees.

The tribe’s career services held a job fair at the casino that filled some of the positions, but they are all listed on the Cherokee Career Services web page.

The aggressive growth of the casino business is providing about 100 of those jobs, and 68,000-square-feet of additional space is being built at the Hard Rock with more space under construction in Tahlequah.

Competition between three major Tulsa-area casinos is helping to drive the growth and heat up the job market.

Martin Madewell, the Senior Marketing Director for the casino, said: “Competition makes you better. I think you can see that in Tulsa and across the state. As of right now, business is very healthy.”

They've also been aggressive by offering a lot of entertainment and their new ball and dice games are paying off.

Madewell said, “The market has responded very well. The dealers are lovin' it, the players are lovin' it, and it’s been a fun time.”

He said those who hire on can get good pay and a benefits package that’s very competitive.

They’re scouting for talent with a focus on finding people who can build careers with the Cherokee Nation.

Brad Eubanks with Cherokee Career Services says the idea is to help people plan for the future.

“We can help find them a place to where they can go further their education, further their training. So, then more opportunities come up like this they can be fully ready to do this."
