Stackhouse Squashes Spyder and Burnham En Route To BPW TItle

Stackhouse Squashes Spyder and Burnham En Route To BPW TItle

Posted: Aug 8th 2018 By: Michael Hunt

The past two months have seen an extremely vicious side of BCW Buzzsaw Champion Sam Stackhouse appear. While best known as the jovial if slightly dim best friend of Drake Gallows, Stackhouse, alongside his wife Chelsea, seem to have vowed to bulldoze over the entirety of BPW. The reason for their anger: the absence of the BPW Oklahoma Champion, Spyder.

In April, Spyder def. Ray Martinez for the BPW Oklahoma Title. But over the past four months, he made only 2 title defences, both of them at the BPW events at Torchy’s Cadillac in Sapulpa. Those were special events whereas the normal BPW events occur in Bristow. What is not commonly known is that Spyder underwent surgery on his left shoulder in the time between those two Torchy’s events. Spyder is never one to complain or make much of a presence on social media. So from the perspective of Stackhouse, Spyder was simply being a cowardly paper champion.

This whole situation put BPW Commissioner C. M. Burnham in a tight spot. While he understood Spyder’s injuries and wanted to respect his wishes to keep them quiet, he also needed a champion to defend his title. And technically, Spyder did so....just not at the Bristow events. On one occasion, Burnham ordered a Fatal 4-Way Match to determine a #1 contender to the BPW Oklahoma Title. That was won by Spike, but Spike never arranged for his title match to take place, so Burnham discarded that opportunity. Spike was upset about this, but nowhere near as upset as Sam Stackhouse appeared to be.

Before the August 4th event, Burnham announced on the BPW Facebook page that there would be a gauntlet match to determine the #1 contender to the Oklahoma Title and that they would wrestle the champion in the main event that night! This meant a lot of pressure would now fall on the challenger as he would not only have to win the gauntlet, which consisted of seven competitors, but he also would have to wrestle the champion. Winning 7 matches in one night is nearly an impossibility. But whoever started the gauntlet faced that as a reality. And the unlucky individuals were Boink the Clown and ASP Mid-American Champion The Canadian Red Devil. The Devil overcame the unpredictable antics of Boink to advance and face off against Antonio Vega who scored what many would consider an upset over CRD to advance to the next round. That saw the return of Karnage to BPW, alongside Naomi Sanders. The man from Juggalo Island wasted little time in eliminating his opponent and moving on to the next opponent. That brought Tommy Dean to the ring. No strangers to each other as they had feuded over the BPW Oklahoma Tag Team Titles last year, Dean took out Karnage and moved forward to face Spike. Spike made it clear to everyone present that he felt this match was unnecessary and that, in his mind, he was still the #1 contender to the title since he never got his title match. But Tommy gave him something more to cry about when he pinned Spike and moved forward.

Then came the last entrant, Sam Stackhouse. With a look of murderous fury on his face, Stackhouse charged to the ring and immediately began his attack on Dean. Dean appeared to be on the verge of falling to the man from Golden Corral, TX, but a miscalculation put Sam outside the ring and flat on his face. Referee Ben Kelly applied the ten-count and Stackhouse could not make his way back in the ring in time, making Tommy Dean the winner by Countout and the winner of the Ganutlet match, earning the title opportunity. While it may not have been the way he wanted to win the match, nonetheless, Dean was going to face Spyder in the main event.

Or so everyone believed.

And irate Stackhouse, after recovering and making it to his feet, told Burnham that this was all his fault. He then picked up a chair and appeared to be on the verge of hitting Burnham before deciding to throw the chair at the wall. But no one could expect what was yet to come. As Burnham announced Dean to come to the ring for the main event, he was greeted at the bottom of the entrance ramp by his brother, BPW Lionheart Champion Jerry Dean, who had turned his back on Tommy the previous show. Then, from behind, Stackhouse attacked Tommy on the ramp. He then threw him into the ring and proceeded an assault, together with Jerry, on the challenger. But between every hard-hitting move, Sam would stop and turn to Burnham, demanding that he turn this match into a Triple Threat Match. Burnham refused...and refused..and refused. And everytime he refused, Stackhouse dealt out more violence to Tommy. Finally, Stackhouse adjusted the question, asking for clarification that Burnham had indeed said that Spyder had to defend the title that night. Burnham confirmed that and almost immediately, Stackhouse backed down, telling Burnham that that was all he needed to hear. Burnham then turned away from Stackhouse to try and check on the condition of Tomm Dean and that was when Stackhouse chose to blindside him. A big forearm to the back, followed by multiple stomps and punches put Burnham down and as he crawled his way up into a corner, Stackhouse ran in and collided with a massive freight-train splash, putting Burnham down and forcing security and referees to help him to the back.

With no one to stop him, Stackhouse ordered back-up ring announcer Jerry Henry to call Spyder out and get this match started. Henry did just that out of fear and the match began. The two competitors exchanged chops and brawled on the outside, at one point seeing Sam charge at Spyder only to collide with the wall, which amazingly suffered no damage. Sam also saw fit to catapult Spyder over the top rop onto the entrance ramp face first. Through it all, Spyder persevered and appeared on the way to victory. This brought Chelsea to ringside and she distracted the referee as Stackhouse hit a low blow on Spyder, then hoisted him up for an inverted GTS, putting the valiant champion down and allowing Stackhouse to once again become champion!

Oklafan contacted BPW commissioner C. M. Burnham and inquired about the controversy surrounding Stackhouse’s actions. Burnham said “The BPW Board of Directors is currently in conversation with Stackhouse’s legal advisors regarding this title change. We will have an official statement and decision about it as well as Mr. Stackhouse’s actions come September 1st.” Until then, BPW fans have to deal with Stackhouse being a dual champion. Does this mean Stackhouse’s anger has subsided? Perhaps for the moment. But the decision of the BPW Board of Directors may bring that rage back out again and the whole locker room could be at risk.
