Killista Successful In In-Ring Return After One Year Absence

Killista Successful In In-Ring Return After One Year Absence

Posted: Jul 11th 2018 By: Michael Hunt

2015 saw the beginnings of a surge in women’s wrestling, primarily in Northeast Oklahoma, but really all across the state. New talent such as Skylar Slice, Nikki Knight, Phoebe and Killista all began to make names for themselves in the region.

Thought initially hated by the fans at ComPro, Killista soon found herself embracing those who came to see her and, with the exception of her reign as MSWA Ladies Champion, that support continued throughout her career. But due to personal issues, that career came to a halt approximately one year ago. The last time Killista competed was in August, 2017 at the SLPW event in Hinton, OK. She teamed with her sister, Skylar Slice and defeated Nikki Knight and veteran female competitor Mickie Knuckles in a tag team match to open the show, then later defeated Machiko in a singles bout.

That was the last that anyone saw Killista in a ring and it was rumoured that she had officially retired. But this past Saturday saw her return to wrestling to compete against former NWA World Women’s Champion Barbi Hayden, who was making her debut at BPW. Obviously one year away from the ring brings with it some challenges in terms of conditioning and ring rust, but Killista hoped to overcome those factors and pull out a victory.

Inspired by the chants of “Welcome Back” from the crowd in Bristow, Killista entered the ring and got to work, but things did not go well for her at the beginning of the match. Hayden showed her experience advantage as she outwrestled Killista, culminating with a drop toe hold that smashed Killista’s face into the mat. Killista tried to turn things around after a jawbreaker, but Hayden rallied and focused on Killista’s mid-section with some powerful blows. A brief rally from Killista proved to be of no avail as Hayden continued working over the abdominals, whipping Killista into the ropes and following in with a knee.

Feeling confident, Hayden positioned Killista in the corner and charged in, but Killista met her with an elbowsmash to the face. Hayden tried again and was greeted with a boot. Killista then connected with a couple of shoulder blocks and a Sideslam, but was only able to get a two-count out of that. Hayden then locked in a Cross-Arm Breaker, hoping for a submission. Killista powered through the pain, rolling Hayden up for two and forcing her to break the hold. As Hayden made her way to her feet, Killista connected with a Switch Kick and scored the pinfall!

A tremendous victory for her return to the ring, but the question now is, what’s next for Killista? Was this a one-time occurrence or will she once again be pursuing wrestling championships? Only time can answer that, but if this is the beginning of a full-time return, the fans will certainly be the winners when they see Killista in action!
