Women’s wrestling coming to San Antonio Friday

Women’s wrestling coming to San Antonio Friday

Posted: Jul 5th 2018 By: René A. Guzman - MySanAntonio.com

And you thought the fireworks ended July 4. River City Wrestling promises a bombastic array of entertainment Friday night at Turner Club in Kirby, with two matches that further illustrate just how much women’s wrestling has exploded in popularity.

Of course, the men get their due, too, with a Lucha Libre Triple Threat match, the RCW Championship Monsters Ball, and the night’s main event, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match between Nick Aldis and Lance Hoyt. But the night also features RCW Women’s Championship title holder Paige Turner defend her belt against Teana “Rebel” Brooks, while the other women’s match features Taeler Hendrix and Barbi Hayden.

Take it from Brooks. Women wrestlers are just as passionate and hard working as the men, inside as well as outside the ring. Because while women wrestlers are getting more main events and programming than ever, they’re also working extra hard to show their wrestling talents go far beyond their looks.

“I’m constantly having to work hard,” Brooks said, “and prove to people that I’m not just another pretty face.”
