Space Age Sends Pierce Into Permanent Career Black Hole

WFC’s year-long nightmare is now over.

One year ago, Richard Pierce arrived on the scene in WFC. He quickly reunited with Dutch Hagen, Richie Adams and Skylar Slice, putting together the group known as Pierce International. But with Slice’s pregnancy putting her out of action, Pierce focused on Adams and Hagen, forming the team of London Calling. And they quickly found rivalry in the form of Space Age.

Shenanigans between the two sides escalated quickly. London Calling instituted a ruling allowing for them to call for “Tea Time” during their matches (with tea served by Pierce’s personal manservant, Gary Poppins). They also utilized the tea as a weapon against their opponents during these times. But Space Age struck back, putting something in the tea on at least one occassion which caused Pierce and Hagen to suffer almost immediate intestinal disruption. This humiliation motivated London Calling to make a play for the masks of Space Age, which they almost got a hold of in May. And seeing that things were not going to get any better on their own, WFC commissioner Striker was forced to step in and set up a match with stipulations. He announced that on the 2nd night of the Ryder Herring Memorial Cup Tournament, Space Age and London Calling would face each other one final time. If London Calling won, they would get the masks of Aeronaut & Gemini [2nd], but if Space Age won, Richard Pierce would be forced to leave WFC.

June 16 could not arrive fast enough for either duo. London Calling arrived to the ring first, greeted by the fans singing a special version of “London Bridge is Falling Down” composed by superfan Granny Hulkster. Then Space Age arrived, with Paul Puertorico and newest recruit Aerokid at in tow. And they had an additional surprise for London Calling as they brought out StarLord, who would be at ringside with them. Shaken by that surprise, London Calling called for Tea Time early, but Space Age was not considerate of this time-out and a brawl commenced outside the ring. Space Age quickly took control after referee Nick Chinn got all competitors back in the ring, but eventually Aeronaut found himself isolated and London Calling took control. The power of Dutch Hagen combined with the uncanny offense of Riche Adams kept London Calling in control until Aeronaut was able to connect with a dropkick off the top rope and make the tag to Gemini [2nd]. This brought a panicking Richard Pierce in, as he could see his career melting away before his eyes. He threw a cup of tea at Gemini [2nd], but the masked spaceman ducked and the tea went in Hagen’s eyes, temporarily blinding him. Aeronaut then chased Pierce around in the ring until he bumped into the blinded Hagen, who promptly lowblowed him and hit a DDT for a cover. Aeronaut counted 3 and Hagen began to celebrate, thinking they had been victorious, until Gemini [2nd] connected with the Zodiak Killer and Hagen was down and out, losing the match.

Slowly, but surely the reality of the situation began to sink in on Richard Pierce. And just to drive it home, the “Resurrector of Reality”, Striker, came out to make the official announcement, saying that Pierce was no longer part of the WFC Roster. Being the fair man that he is, Striker allowed the threesome one last opportunity for tea time and some good-bye hugs and tears were shared before Pierce made a final bow in front of the exit curtain. And in typical Pierce form, he emerged immediately afterwards and grabbed Gary Poppins by the neck, saying he was taking Poppins with him.

Pierce has been in this position before. In 2013, he teamed with Dutch Hagen and lost to Shane Morbid and Lil G. The contractual stipulation at the time said that he could not compete in Oklahoma again, but obviously Pierce’s lawyers found a way around that loophole following the collapse of OWA. This time, though, it seems that Pierce’s Oklahoma career may well and truly be over. WFC was the only federation he worked regularly and with his faction competing their almost exclusively, it does not seem likely that he will be making a return to ComPro or venturing the UWE or any of the Oklahoma City-based federations. Combine that with the symbology of Dutch Hagen laying Pierce’s jacket (as well as his Union Jack flag and teacup) in the middle of the ring and it seems that we have truly seen the end of Richard Pierce.

No word yet on what the future holds for London Calling as a tag team.
