Is Kitty Cracking Under the Pressure?
Posted: Aug 29th 2007 By: CMBurnham
ComPro commissioner Kitty is an anomaly in the world of professional wrestling. She's a female power figure in what is still predominately a man's world. She's a small person amongst a land of giants. And since taking the reigns of control during TPW's era, she's made it very clear that despite her size and gender, she will not tolerate any chicanery from the people she's in charge of. It's been a tough road for her, but she's come through relatively unscathed.
In recent weeks, Kitty has appeared to be cracking under the pressure of dealing with so many issues on a weekly basis. When TPW was running, she only had to deal with the wrestlers and their issues every other week. Then, when ComPro opened, they ran once a month at best and again, it wasn't hard to bring a quick decision to any issue at hand.
But when ComPro moved to weekly shows at the beginning of August, Kitty was suddenly inundated with demands and requests from all the superstars. And the problems that came up may be too many for the Hellcat to handle on her own.
One of the groups that has caused Kitty many of her headaches has been ComPro & SWCW Tag Team Champions Texas, Inc. While they have downed challeges from makeshift tag teams on the shows that ComPro ran earlier this year, the constant attacks by Sudden Impact seem to have gotten under the skin of Bernard Funk & Tim Rockwell. On August 11, Texas, Inc. made multiple appearances in the ring, interrupting Sudden Impact's interview segment then later making an impromptu demand for their own interview segment, and attempting to intimdate Kitty until the arrival of FCW Tag Team Champion Romero Contreras stopped that. That evening, Kitty dropped her normally calm and neutral persona and was cheering on Sudden Impact in their challenge for the ComPro Tag Team titles. Interference from Big Stevie Caballero brought an end to the match, but Kitty was so caught up in the moment that she almost announced Sudden Impact as the new tag team champions, even though they won the match on a DQ.
Another thorn in her side has been the reemerging faction known as ICF. Shane Morbid, Cold Blooded Chris & Cast-Iron Cothern, together with Boss Campbell, have come back together to raise havoc in ComPro and they don't seem to care what Kitty tells them to do. They destroyed FCW Champion the Canadian Red Devil and FCW Tag Team and ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion Justin Lee 2 weeks ago, all while Kitty sat helplessly at ringside, looking on.
This past week was more of the same from both groups, as Funk & Rockwell defeated both members of Sudden Impact in singles matches and ICF interfered in the title-vs-title match between Justin Lee & ComPro Champion AWOL. Kitty announced that Texas, Inc. would be defending their gold against Sudden Impact this coming Saturday, but whatever plans she may have for ICF remain a mystery.
Oklafan approached Kitty for a statement about her recent actions and, while she appeared willing initially, she later refused to grant one. This seems to be just another sign that the job is getting the best of her. Perhaps it's too much for one person, no matter how powerful and strong of character they are, to do. Oklafan's investigation revealed that when ComPro was formed, there were plans to have some sort of dual commissionership or perhaps a trouble-shooting enforcer as part of the Board of Control. For reasons unknown, that idea was dropped by the wayside. Now, it appears that Kitty may be needing that support before the walls of ComPro come crumbling down around her.
