Lawler said that on March 21st, his girlfriend noticed that one side of his face looked paralyzed and he was slurring his speech. She took him to the hospital and registered a blood pressure of 296/145 which is really bad. He was hospitalized for three days but was feeling better after he was released. “The King” said that nobody knew about his situation apart from Kevin Dunn and Triple H, who he alerted since he was supposed to do commentary for the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34. Lawler looked absolutely fine during WrestleMania weekend showing no after effects from his stroke.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Terry Simms, who passed away April 8th. He was believed to be 55 years old. Simms initially came to prominence as one-half of the tag team Beauty and the Beast, alongside The Beast. Then known as Terrence M. Garvin (not to be confused with the Terry Garvin who wrestled in the 1960s), Simms was an effeminate wrestler who insisted on wrestling on a pink mat. Beauty and the Beast made initial impact in Memphis and Continental areas before moving over to WCCW, where they were managed by Buddy Roberts. Beauty and the Beast defeated Chris Adams and Jeff Jarrett in a tournament final on March 3, 1989 for the vacant WCCW Texas Tag Team Titles, which they held for a little under 2 months before losing them to Steve Simpson & Scott Simpson on April 28, 1989. After WCCW was combined with CWA to form the USWA and moved back to headquarter out of the Memphis area, Garvin became a mainstay of the Global Wrestling Federation when it began promoting in the Sportatorium in Dallas. But Garvin took this opportunity to reinvent himself, cutting his hair and adopting a "never back down" attitude. Now using his real name of Terry Simms, Garvin would feud with Eddie Gilbert over the GWF North American and TV Titles, then later team with Gilbert against the Dark Patriot and a variety of partners of his choosing. When GWF closed their doors, Simms continued to appear on North Texas independent cards through the end of the 1990s before retiring to his home in Kentucky. Highly reclusive, Simms made very few wrestling related appearances after retirement and was known to be suffering from multiple health issues prior to his death.
