NEWS
WWE announced that three special guest commentators will be taking on the WrestleMania Kickoff matches this coming Sunday. WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, who has been doing commentary for the Mixed Match Challenge series, will be joining the commentary team for the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal. Meanwhile, fellow Hall of Famers Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler will be the special guest commentators for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. J. R. called the main event of WrestleMania last year at the request of The Undertaker just days after J. R.'s wife Jan passed away in a tragic car accident.

Jim Ross and Rob Van Dam were guests at Paul Heyman’s one-man show in New Orleans on Friday.

Believe it or not, the last time that a one-on-one match involving women at a WrestleMania was 11 years ago at WrestleMania 23 when Melina defeated Ashley Massaro in a Lumberjill Match to retain the WWE Divas Title. That match lasted a total of 3 minutes and 40 seconds. At WrestleMania 24, it was Beth Phoenix & Melina vs. Ashley Massaro & Maria in a Playboy BunnyMania Lumberjill Match, lasting 5 minutes. A Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal took place at WrestleMania 25, with Santina Marella winning in 7 minutes and 25 seconds. A 10-Diva Tag Team Match took place at WrestleMania 26, involving Alicia Fox, Layla, Maryse, Michelle McCool, & Vickie Guerrero vs. Beth Phoenix, Eve Torres, Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, & Mickie James. That lasted 3 minutes and 26 seconds. WrestleMania 27 saw no WWE women taking part while at WrestleMania 28, Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos vs. Beth Phoenix & Eve Torres in a match that went on for 6 minutes and 49 seconds. The women missed out on WrestleMania 29 again, but returned at WrestleMania 30 for the Vickie Guerrero Invitational match which lasted 6 minutes and 49 seconds. WrestleMania 31 saw A. J. Lee & Paige vs. The Bella Twins (Nikki Bella & Brie Bella) in a 6 minute and 42 second match. And then, the women's revolution started for WrestleMania 32 which completely changed the game for the women. The Divas title was retired and in came the WWE Women's Title. For WrestleMania 32, a 10-Diva Tag Team Match was part of the Kickoff show which lasted 11 minutes and 25 seconds and was Brie Bella's farewell match. And then, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks wrestled for the Women's Title in one of the best matches of the night which went on for 16 minutes and 3 seconds. Last year at WrestleMania 33, the women had two matches on the main WrestleMania card for the first time ever. A Fatal 4-Way Match for the RAW Women's Title which went on for 12 minutes and 45 seconds, and a 6-Pack Challenge for the SmackDown Women's Title which lasted 5 minutes and 35 seconds. Which brings us to WrestleMania 34 where the women will have a total of three matches, including two one-on-one. The RAW Women's Title Match will have Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax, while the SmackDown Women's Title Match will have Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka, a match which is expected to tear the house down. Besides those two, the remaining women will participate in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal. Another WWE Superstar, Ronda Rousey, will tag with Kurt Angle vs. Stephanie McMahon & Triple H in a Mixed Tag Team Match. As you can see from the timeline, it was a long road for the WWE women to get where they are today but who knows, maybe the next target is to main event WrestleMania.

It's safe to say that last week, WWE Superstars had a jam-packed schedule as they visited different communities around New Orleans and participated in several activities in the area. The visits started April 4th. First up was a children’s hospital visit at the Ochsner Children’s Health Center with Finn Bálor, Bayley, Jason Jordan, Goldust, Alicia Fox, and WWE Ambassador Dana Warrior. They were there to take pictures, sign autographs and distribute WWE Championship replica toy titles to patients. Also Thursday, WWE and UNICEF USA hosted a UNICEF Kid Power event at the New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission’s Milne Recreational Center. Mickie James, Sheamus, Cesaro, Sasha Banks, and NXT Superstars Lacey Evans, Montez Ford, and Steve Cutler participated in activities that will help save the lives of children around the world. On Thursday, April 5th, WWE teamed up with the Special Olympics for a unified basketball game at the Westbank Boys and Girls Club Unit. Seth Rollins, Carmella, Alicia Fox, Chad Gable, Shelton Benjamin, NXT Superstar Velveteen Dream, and WWE Ambassador Dana Warrior served as honorary coaches, while WWE Superstar Big Show and WWE Announcer Mike Romel served as announcers. Susan G. Komen New Orleans hosted its Perfectly Pink Salute to Survivors Luncheon at the Audubon Zoo Tea Room on April 5th with Titus O’Neil, Natalya, Nia Jax, Dana Brooke, and WWE Ambassador Dana Warrior appearing. WWE presented a grant award totaling $275,000 to local grantees to help women, men and families in the Greater New Orleans area receive access to life-saving breast cancer screening, treatment and education services. On Friday, April 6th there was a Be a STAR Bullying Prevention Rally at the NFL-YET Boys and Girls Club Recreation Center. Apollo, Dana Brooke, Carmella, NXT Superstar Kassius Ohno, and actor Christian Navarro, along with representatives from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, spoke about the importance of bullying prevention to Club members. On Saturday, April 7th, there was the Make-A-Wish Circle of Champions reception at Mardi Gras World. Samoa Joe, Natalya, Sasha Banks, WWE Ambassador Dana Warrior, and WWE announcer Jo Jo met with the Wish kids and participated in a float parade at Mardi Gras World. There was also a surprise appearance by a WWE Superstar who inducted the wish kids into WWE’s Circle of Champions. A Kid Superstar Reveal at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center took place on April 7th. WWE hosted patients from the Ochsner Hospital for Children, Children’s Hospital of New Orleans and Tulane Lakeside Hospital for Women and Children, for a Kid Superstar reveal. It was hosted by WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon, Daniel Bryan, A. J. Styles, and Asuka. On Tuesday, April 10th, a WrestleMania Reading Celebration will be held at the J.C. Ellis Elementary School. The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, & Xavier Woods), Carmella, and WWE Ambassador Dana Warrior will be on hand to donate 20,000 books to New Orleans area schools along with First Book. A lot more non-advertised events will happen throughout the area, keeping everybody busy for the week.

The WWE will be adding an Andre the Giant collection to the Network on Monday. Among the matches are a 1976 Madison Square Garden match vs. Ernie Ladd, a match featuring Andre, Billy White Wolf, & Jay Strongbow vs. Bruiser Brody & The Executioners (Killer Kowalski & John Studd) from 1976, Andre vs. Hulk Hogan from 1980 at Shea Stadium, Andre vs. Killer Khan in a Stretcher Match in 1981, Andre, Dusty Rhodes, & Junkyard Dog vs. Ernie Ladd & The Samoans (Afa & Sika) from Mid South Wrestling, Andre vs. Blackjack Mulligan from 1982 in Madison Square Garden, Andre, Junkyard Dog, & Mil Mascaras vs. Killer Khan, Hercules Hernandez, & Tully Blanchard from Mid South, Nick Bockwinkel vs. Andre for the AWA World Title, and tons of other stuff.

Jeff Jarrett might take over as GM on SmackDown now that Daniel Bryan is back in action.

With SmackDown in Nashville, TN it was only fitting that soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett came to visit. Jarrett was backstage at SmackDown Live, his first time in a WWE locker room since he left on not-so-good terms back in 1999. WWE cameras were present to film Jarrett meeting with various individuals, sharing big hugs with A. J. Styles, Natalya, Zack Ryder, Arn Anderson, referee Charles Robinson, Michael Hayes, and others. Jarrett was also filmed entering the arena and getting his first look at a WWE ring in 19 years. “Wow. This is pretty ironic. Cleveland, Ohio in 1999 was the last time I was at a WWE event and how crazy is this…the first event I’m back after all those years is in Nashville,” Jarrett said.

Jeff Jarrett got emotional when reflecting on his friendship with Owen Hart and talking about what it would have been like if Owen were here for his Hall of Fame induction. In other WrestleMania Diary videos, Jeff & Karen Jarrett and their family arrived in New Orleans and got ready for tonight’s Hall of Fame ceremony.

Jeff Jarrett posted a photo from backstage at last Tuesday's SmackDown telecast in Nashville, TN and WWE has video of him at the arena and reuniting with A. J. Styles and some people at the show.

In a WrestleMania Diary video, Jeff Jarrett got emotional when talking about reconnecting with Vince McMahon in New Orleans. Jarrett received his HOF ring from Vince McMahon and talked to him for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Jeff Jarrett visited the Nashville Fairgrounds and discussed his history with the venue.

Jeff Jarrett, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, and Elias performed “With My Baby Tonight” in a preview video for an upcoming "Table for Three" episode. Jarrett and Road Dogg also reflected on Jarrett’s Hall of Fame induction.

WWE Shop has released Hall of Fame t-shirts for Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz, Ivory, Jeff Jarrett, Hillbilly Jim, and Mark Henry.

The Hall of Fame is a very important night for those getting inducted, but it's equally important for those doing the honors. Delivering that perfect speech prior to the induction help sets the mood for what's to come and you can safely say that anyone tasked with this job comes fully prepared. Inducting Goldberg was none other than Paul Heyman. The two have never worked together until the program with Brock Lesnar but Heyman coached Goldberg's promo issues during the feud and often had great things to say about the former World and Universal champion. Edge & Christian were tasked to induct The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley), former adversaries along with The Hardy Boyz (Jeff Hardy & Matt Hardy) who made several WrestleMania moments throughout the years. It was Bubba who asked Edge if they're up for it, an invitation which was immediately accepted. All four, along with The Hardy Boyz, wanted to get on the stage together one more time for this special occasion. "Road Dogg" Jesse James inducted his friend Jeff Jarrett. The two started together in WWE and have remained friends ever since through the good and the bad times. Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart kicked things off for Hillbilly Jim and you can bet "The Mouth of the South" had plenty to say considering their 34-year friendship in the business. The Big Show inducted fellow big man Mark Henry while Molly Holly got to prepare the stage for her friend Ivory. Dana Warrior represented her late husband and presented the Warrior Award to Jarrius "J. J." Robinson.

Bill Goldberg was in attendance and was talked about Saturday night at the Glory show in Long Beach, CA. On the Netherlands feed, the commentators put him over huge, talked about WCW, his going into the Hall of Fame, and last year's WrestleMania match with Brock Lesnar.

A new WWE Network commercial aired during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony which gave a preview of what upcoming new shows will be airing over the next few months. A second Mae Young Classic tournament for the women and a King of the Ring tournament in the United Kingdom were shown. The original Mae Young Classic and the WWE UK Championship tournament were big hits on the Network so it's no surprise they're adding them again. The WWE 365 series will return focusing on the current WWE champion A. J. Styles. This will be the second one in the series following the one on Kevin Owens. WWE 365 focuses on a year-long journey in the life of a WWE Superstar. WWE 24 also has three new episodes lined up, one on The Hardy Boyz (Jeff Hardy & Matt Hardy), one on the RAW 25th Anniversary special, and one on Ronda Rousey's arrival in WWE. Elias: Unplugged and Bruce Prichard's popular podcast Something To Wrestle With were also announced coming to the WWE Network. No specific dates were given on when these shows will eventually air.

Ric Flair tweeted a photo with Ronda Rousey from WWE’s Hall of Fame ceremony.

EC3 did a promo insulting his five opponents in Saturday’s ladder match for the North American Championship at "TakeOver: New Orleans". In the match, Adam Cole won the vacant title.

Raymond Rowe & Todd Smith appeared on the pre-show television tapings at NXT's "TakeOver: New Orleans" on Saturday and are now known as the War Raiders. Prior to their NXT arrival, their team name was War Machine.

For what it’s worth, the Smoothie King Center is advertising A. J. Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Charlotte Flair vs. Carmella for Tuesday's SmackDown tapings. One or both of those could be dark matches if they end up happening.

Jan Murphy of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story entitled "WrestleMania marks huge moment in careers of Roode and Mahal" which you can read by clicking here.

Jan Murphy also wrote "Goldberg a fitting headliner at WWE Hall of Fame ceremony" which you can read by clicking here.
