Mahalli Becomes Dual Champion! Can He Make It A Three-Peat This Saturday?

One of the bigger success stories to come out of Oklahoma wrestling recently is Prince Mahalli.

Though having only competed for about a year and a half, Mahalli has already made a significant impact. He was voted the Most Hated Wrestler of the Year in the MSWA Year-End Polls in 2016 and in February of this year, he ended the title reign of Buster Cherry and has been MSWA Mid-South Champion since then.

Some might attribute part of that success to the presence of his manager, Mohammad burn Ham, who was very significant in Mahalli's title victory. But burn Ham has not been at ringside with Mahalli in his other ventures. Nonetheless, Mahalli's success ratio remains consistently high.

Recently, Mahalli chose to target WFC for his latest rise to glory. And very quickly, he put the WFC Hometown Heroes title in his sights. That belt, held at the time of his arrival by Paul Puertorico, has been the symbol of excellence for much of WFC's existence. And while it may be secondary now to the WFC Championship, Mahalli saw the obvious symbology of having a foreigner as the "Hometown Hero". It would bring sadness to the fans, which would make Mahalli all the happier.

On June 3rd in Broken Arrow, WFC presented its annual "Fandetta" event. This event is very special as the fans have a voice in most of the matches, either picking opponents or stipulations. Mahalli was chosen to face Puertorico at this event in a non-title match, but he would have to do compete under one of the following condition:

1 arm tied behind his back
No Turnbuckle Pads
Loser Wears A Dress

The overwhelming choice on the part of the fans was to see one of the competitors (and most probably wanted Mahalli) to wear a dress after losing the match. And Paul Puertorico brought a specially designed dress, bearing the pattern of his tights and fitting in with his theme of being an "Extraterrestrial". Seeing the possibility of humiliation, Mahalli attacked Puertorico from behind as he was saluting the crowd and pressed the attack as much as possible. But Puertorico fought back, knowing that he did not want to disappoint all his fans and have his second HTH title reign ended under these condition. Towards the end of the match, Mahalli went for the Magic Carpet Ride, but Puertorico got his knees up to block it. Puertorico connected with a power slam, then ascended to the top rope, grabbed his Puerto Rican flag and hit a beautiful moonsault off the top for the win.

Unable to avoid the consequences, Mahalli found himself being forced into the dress. And as the fans stood, laughed, pointed and jeered, Mahalli knew that revenge would be served. All the laughter simply served to fuel his hatred and desire for retaliation.

Two weeks later, despite the loss, Mahalli was granted a title opportunity by WFC Director of Operations Striker. And Mahalli wasted no time, blindsiding Puertorico as he made his entrance and beating him all around the ring. As before, Puertorico fought back, using the skill and extreme experience advantage he had to counter the underhanded tactics employed by Mahalli. He almost brought the match to an early end, going for the moonsault that brought him victory before. But Mahalli was able to intercept that and turn it into an RKO-style move, though he could not get a victory our of it. Sensing the possibility of another defeat, Mahalli brought a secondary plan into play. He began to untie the top turnbuckle in one of the corners while referee J. J. Hefley was checking on Puertorico. Then, as Hefley went to deal with the turnbuckle, Mahalli kicked Puertorico in the groin and hit the Bomb Dropper on him. Quickly, Mahalli grabbed his carpet and skittered to the top rope, hitting the Magic Carpet Ride with tremendous precision. Three seconds later, a new Hometown Hero was born.

Mahallli now stands as a dual champion, but the real sign of accomplishment is if he can gain a third. Only a select few, such as Rocco Valentino, Shane Morbid, Dutch Hagen Texas, Inc. and Skylar Slice, have ever done this. This Saturday, All Star Pro will hold the event that was supposed to happen last month and at this event they will crown the first ASP Champion. The opportunity sits right in front of Mahalli for him to join an elite group. All he has to do is snatch that opportunity like he has all the others.
