Bowl trips regularly feature outings to beaches or amusement parks, and visits to hospitals to keep the student-athletes busy when not practicing. But watching a professional
wrestling show will be a first.

Before playing in Friday’s Music City Bowl, the Tennessee Volunteers and Nebraska Cornhuskers will be treated to a Global Force Wrestling event.

“We pride ourselves on giving each team that comes here a memorable experience,” Music City Bowl President/CEO Scott Ramsey said. “Professional wrestling is something unique to our bowl game, and we believe it’s something the players are really going to enjoy. Thanks to Jeff Jarrett for his willingness to help us create this special event.”

Jarrett is the founder and CEO of GFW and a pro wrestling legend who is from the Nashville area.

“We couldn’t be more excited for this event, and having the home-state Vols here and matching up against a great program like Nebraska makes it even more special,” Jarrett said. “We plan to give the players, coaches, team officials and wounded veterans a night that will get them truly involved
and rooting for their favorites like fans will be for them at the 19th annual Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 at Nissan Stadium.”

The event will feature special appearances by WWE Hall of Fame member Road Warrior Animal, whose son, James Laurinaitis, was a two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year as a linebacker at Ohio State, and legendary manager Jim Cornette.

The players and coaches, along with wounded veterans from the area, will enjoy the show on Wednesday. Unfortunately, it is not open to the public.
