Making a Difference in Hollywood

Making a Difference in Hollywood

Posted: Jul 29th 2007 By: CMBurnham

My friend Becky Holleman may have a Masters Degree and impeccable teaching credentials, but the North Carolina native decided raising the beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniels would be where her heart belongs. She also raises the adorable Havanese breed as well. When Becky started this hobby, many of her friends and family felt that she was making a huge mistake. She had become a very respected school teacher and was choosing to leave the security of a State job as well as the kids she had grown to love to raise dogs. Needless to say, she's a real maverick. Born to an American father and a British mum, the cross made her a free spirit. Her love of dogs she gained from her parents. Her father, Buck Sasnet still raises beagles and sells them all over the country. He's in his eighties but shows no signs of slowing down from the hobby that has turned into his retirement profession.

The Cavaliers are extremely popular in Hollywood. Recently "American Idol" contestant Katharine McPhee has adopted one of these prize pooches. She sports around Hollywood with the adorable doggie. But the first Cavalier that I fell in love with was that of former First Lady Nancy Reagan's. She says that the dog was always her favorite and she is a person of undeniable taste and character. Becky says, "This breed is the greatest that I have ever seen. Don't tell my dad that beagles are no longer my favorite dog breed. He just loves and adores his dogs." Recently visiting the home of the famed Cavalier breeder in Kinston, North Carolina, I fell in love with a black and tan Cavalier. "No," Becky said. "You can't have him, he's already spoken for." To my utter surprise, it was my childhood hero, the wrestler Ric Flair and his beautiful wife Tiffany. The couple and Ric's gorgeous daughter Ashley have all adopted Cavaliers from her in the past. Just last weekend, Becky and her husband Andy paid a visit to the Flairs at their beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina mansion to deliver Naitch. It stands for Ric's wrestling title - Nature Boy.

The Flairs are very good parents to their Cavaliers. Becky Holleman would never give her pets who are like her grandchildren to anyone whose home is not perfect for them. Ric and Tiffany treated Becky and Andy to a delicious dinner and talk by the pool while the Flairs got to know their new family member Naitch a lot better. Ric Flair is probably the most charismatic and sincere performer in the wrestling sport. The public needs more figures like the Nature Boy in the entertainment world. Becky Holleman can be contacted for anyone interested in adopting one of her world famous Cavalier King Charles Spaniel by going to: www.KingstonCavaliers.com.
