Can Riker Make It Through 2016 Undefeated In UWE?

Can Riker Make It Through 2016 Undefeated In UWE?

Posted: Aug 31st 2016 By: CMBurnham

2016 has definitely been the year of Riker in UWE.

Undefeated streaks are rare in wrestling and usually only noticed when someone first enters into a federation.

But Riker has not suffered a loss in UWE since October 17, 2015, when The Rising fell to the Loaded Guns in a Steel Cage Match.

So it can not be very surprising that Riker is upset by the powers that be in UWE and feels he is being disrespected.

Since 2016 began, the list of competitors to fall at the hands of Riker is an impressive whos who of UWE talent. And it began in February when Riker felled Mr. Nasty. Once month later, Riker teamed with the newly formed Initiative to take out Big Smooth, Aaron Anders and the Loaded Guns. April saw American Made join the Beaten-By-Riker list. In May, he defeated Lance Osburn. He followed that in June with Skyler Fayden. And in July, he took on Trey Cole.

The match with Cole was a challenge for Riker, but after gaining victory with a 2nd rope Splash, Riker and Abel double teamed Trey until Ethan Cole made the save. The potential revive the Rising/Bash Brothers feud from 2014 was certainly planted, but UWE eavyweight & United States Champion Brian Breaker ended that dream when he put Ethan on the disabled list later that event.

August 20th saw Riker face off against IZW Tag Team Champion Luke Langley. And while Langley is accustomed to competing in tag team matches and having the members of the Future Hall of Famers around to support him, he was running completely solo on this occasion. The match itself was outstanding. Langley showed no rust in singles competition and he and Riker battled both inside and outside the ring. The ending saw Langley miss a Mushroom stomp and Riker hit a powerbomb for the win. The undefeated streak remained intact.

And that was when Riker felt he had to speak up. After UWE Commissioner Dale Robinson ran down the card for Showdown, the biggest event UWE puts on every month, Riker could not help but notice that he was not included on the card. And Riker took that opportunity to express his frustration in regards to what he felt was an intentional oversight.

Robinson took as much as he could and then lanced into Riker, saying that for months on end, he had been a bully to everyone in UWE. He went out of his way to intimidate everyone, including UWE officials and the fans. After some quick consideration, Robinson said that Riker WOULD be in a match at Showdown, but he would have to wait until that event to find out who is opponent was.

Riker was irate. Obviously he believed he deserved to be on the event, but he could not believe that he would have no way to prepare for his match. And shortly after that announcement, social media began to see postings of questions regarding the opponent for Riker? Is it a current UWE star? Almost everyone who is a regular already has a match announced. Could it be a returning UWE star? There are a select few people no loner on the UWE roster who could probably be convinced to come back for one more match. Or maybe it is someone brand new that as never competed in the UWE ring before. Whoever it is, Riker has less than a month to prepare because come Showdown, the undefeated streak for 2016 will be on the line. And all it takes is three seconds to render the work of almost a year completely obsolete.
