Walker Takes Initiative To Destroy Cross

Walker Takes Initiative To Destroy Cross

Posted: Aug 5th 2016 By: CMBurnham

On September 19, 2015, The Loaded Guns defeated The Rising for the UWE Tag Team Titles.

On July 30, 2016, The Rising got their revenge in a way no one suspected.

With the formation of The Initiative, UWE has been put under siege by The Rising as well as Clint Cassidy & UWE United States and Heavyweight Champion Brian Breaker. In May, they shocked Tahlequah by convincing American Made to join their group. And with two titles under their control, there was no way that they were going to be satisfied until all the gold was in their possession.

The night had essentially been a clean sweep for the Initiative as Riker had disposed of Trey Cole, Dimitri Alexandrov had squeeked by Skyler Fayden in an extremely close match and Breaker had put down Ethan Cole. The group had also made their presence known by attacking both Zakk Sinizter and Big Smooth during their 1-on-1 match as well as confronting Dusty old during an interview segment conducted by Dustin McGowan. The message being sent was very clear: UWE was under attack at any time and no one could stop them.

The main event saw the Tag Team Titles on the line as The Loaded Guns were set to defend against Cassidy & Abel. After the challengers came to the ring, the music for the champions played, but they did not appear. McGowan ran to the back, then reappeared, informing the crowd that apparently Brandon Walker had been taken to a local medical facility and that the main event would not be happening. That did not set well with WFC Champion Jon Cross as he came out and said that if he had to take on both men in the ring by himself, that was what he would do to preserve the prestige of the UWE Tag Team Titles. Cross fought valiantly, but without anyone to tag with, the odds seemed insurmountable, even for him.

Towards the end of the match, the referee was caught by a big boot in the corner. Abel took advantage of that to roll out of the ring and grab one of the title belts. As he made his way back to the ring, to the surprise of the crowd, Brandon Walker emerged from the back, seemingly unscathed from whatever injury had put him out of action in the match. Armed with a steel chair, Walker slid into the ring to stand by the side of Jon Cross. Abel looked reluctant to continue whatever course of action he had been intending and it seemed that the fans would get a real tag team match at that point....

...and then Walker took the chair and slammed it into Cross, knocking him out. With Cross down, it was a simple matter for the Initiative to make the pinfall and place all the gold in their control.

After the official announcement, the locker room emptied to come to the aid of Jon Cross. After Cross was helped to his feet, the staredown between him and is now former partner Walker was filled with hate and rage. Cross wanted explanations. He wanted revenge. But none of that would happen. Instead, Walker simply joined his new associates and left the area.

This is not the first time that Walker has turned his back on a partner. In 2009, Walker betrayed Justin Lee to break up Team SuperBad and cost them the ComPro Tag Team Titles. On that occasion, Walker stood as a man alone. This time, Walker joins the ranks of the most powerful faction in UWE. With all the titles in their control, The Initiative seems destined to run UWE as they see fit. And woe betide anyone who gets in their way.
