KDOR-TV, the Tulsa affiliate for the Trinity Broadcasting Network, aired "Christian Celebrity Profiles" last Thursday. The first segment was hosted by Steve Borden (AKA Sting) and he was interviewing Lex Luger who was speaking about how he became a Christian after his motorcycle accident and years of drug and alcohol abuse. The announcer for the teaser for segment two incorrectly gave a background story for Nikita Koloff saying he was a former UWF Heavyweight Champion. The second segment was hosted by Christian recording artist and former Tulsa resident Carman and had Nikita Koloff and Ted DiBiase although Koloff and Carmen did all the talking and DiBiase didn't say anything. Koloff brought with him the UWF Television Title and said that he retired from the sport at the age of 33 and hasn't regretted it since because now as an evangelist he can spread the word of Jesus Christ. The third segment was again hosted by Borden and had Shawn Michaels who told the story about how his wife Rebecca (AKA Whisper of The Nitro Girls) prayed for him nightly and when he received Jesus as his savior all of his drug use and alcohol abuse was gone.
Sources within TNA have stated that during the "Victory Road" pay-per-view, Matt Morgan was supposed to do a run in during either the Christian Cage or the Kurt Angle match. This however was scratched last minute as Morgan's flight from Japan had been delayed due to in climate weather. It is not known at this time in what capacity he will be utilized but it should be noted that both Jim Cornette and Vince Russo are very high on Morgan going back to his OVW and WWE Days. With that said it's very unlikely that the former OVW Heavyweight Champ will be introduced at mid-card level.
TNA has talked with Rikishi about coming in to form a tag team with Brian Lawler.
Sonjay Dutt required an MRI for a shoulder tear, but Terry Taylor told him that TNA wouldn't pay for it.
Spike TV has cancelled Bill Goldberg's "Bullrun," which apparently decreases the chances of TNA signing him since he is no longer affiliated with Spike.
Dusty Rhodes, who is a member of the WWE creative team, is expected to sign a talent contract soon.
After the Chris Benoit tragedy, Vince McMahon suggested they bring in a new face, thus the call up of Cody Runnels. The word is that Runnels got the promotion because nobody else in developmental was ready. The Randy Orton-Dusty Rhodes program is scheduled to be a short program.
Court Baurer, who had been working as a member of the Smackdown creative team, gave notice last week that he was leaving World Wrestling Entertainment and has finished up with the company. There are reports that the word going around is that Baurer clashed with Smackdown head writer Michael Hayes.
At the New Orleans television tapings, WWE confiscated signs such as ?RIP Chris? and ?RIP Woman", ?RIP Sherri", and believe it or not, ?We paid to see Flair.?
Speaking of Ric Flair, he is set to return to action any time now.
According to Empire Magazine, director John Carpenter was in discussions with the Sci-Fi Network to adapt his 80s film "They Live" into a television series, which would involve WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.
Just before intermission at the Memphis Wrestling event in Tunica, MS on July 20th, Hollywood Jimmy Blaylock came out to ringside and had party hats and noise makers. He said it was a ?bon voyage? party for Jerry Lawler. They called out Lawler as Blaylock said he had a big surprise for him. A "police officer" came out to serve papers to Lawler regarding the incident in which he allegedly assaulted Sal Corrente. Lawler took the papers and put them in his tights and then gave the officer a piledriver. Lawler continues to work the whole Sal Corrente incident as an angle.
NWA Legends Fanfest will be August 10th through 12th in Charlotte, NC and have several wrestlers scheduled to appear (see below in "Autographs & Appearances"). There will be two empty seats at fanfest this year. Literally, there will be two empty chairs on their Autograph Stage for the duration of
fanfest weekend. These will honor and show their respect for two previous fanfest guests that have passed recently, "The King" Ernie Ladd and "Queen" Sherri Martel.
In the PopJocks.com story rating the wrestlers in the media, the highest ratings went to Bret Hart and Konnan, and worst to Ultimate Warrior and Bill DeMott.
On Wednesday's "Hannity & Colmes", Lanny Poffo said the sport was about heavily muscled guys and that he also used steroids because he had a normal looking body, because it was part of the culture. He said he tried to stay away from it, but the temptation got to him. Then he said he developed acne and testicular atrophy so he stopped. He said he's ashamed to say he used them.
