SRPW to celebrate 3rd anniversary

SRPW to celebrate 3rd anniversary

Posted: Jan 16th 2006 By: oklastaff

The advertisement on their website reads "They said we?d never make it" and there are those in the wrestling community within Oklahoma that probably thought just that. But with Steel Rage Pro Wrestling celebrating their third anniversary on Saturday January 21st, they most certainly have made it.

SRPW was started in 2002 by Sarah Harmon and wrestlers and crew who left Oklahoma Championship Wrestling in its waning days. Wrestlers such as Beau Dalton and Luc Lapointe were the cornerstones in which SRPW were built. SRPW grew and began training wrestlers and several have become quite successful in their own right. Former SRPW trainees include Timmy J, Pork Chop, Paul Linam, Cpl. James Warbois, and current SRPW Women?s Champion Lily McKenzie.

Several wrestlers have competed under the SRPW banner over the years including former ECW superstar Perry Saturn and former WWF Intercontinental Champion Honky Tonk Man who wrestled Bobby Burns in July 2005. Current WWE developmental talent Brent Albright is a former SRPW Champion and competed as Vinnie Valentino and Slater Vain during his SRPW tenure. OVW trainee "Big Money" Chris Matthews is another former member of the SRPW roster.

There have been so many wrestlers that have been a part of SRPW over the last three years, that SRPW owner Sarah Harmon issued a heart felt invitation to any and all former SRPW wrestlers to compete in an Invitational Battle Royal with the winner getting a Heavyweight Title Match against the champion Shane Morbid later in the evening. No word yet as to who has accepted the invitation.

The SRPW Third Anniversary show is Saturday, January 21st at the Hutchins Memorial Auditorium in Ponca City with an 8:00pm bell time. Ponca City is the place that SRPW was born and it was only right that they return to Ponca City to celebrate their anniversary.

Oklafan.com wishes SRPW a Happy 3rd Anniversary!
