The Scoop

NEWS
On May 6th, WWE released King Barrett, Damien Sandow, Santino Marella, Cameron, Hornswoggle, Alex Riley, El Torito and Zeb Colter from their WWE contracts. IWR announced on May 9th that Sandow would be appearing at their "Oklamania" event.
Zeb Colter was one of eight talents to be cut from WWE last Friday. Zeb Colter, who many know as Dutch Mantell, returned to the WWE in 2013 as the manager of Jack Swagger, portraying a character who advocated against illegal immigration and was created following the Tea Party movement. After a feud between Swagger and Rusev, Colter was written off TV and returned in 2015 at "Hell In A Cell" as the manager of Alberto Del Rio, who had just returned himself. The two parted ways in December of that same year and Colter never appeared on TV again.
A fan at last Saturday?s WWE NXT live event in Tulsa posted on Twitter that her Eva Marie sign was not allowed in the building. The poster said "Push Eva Marie".
Murphy lost a tooth in his match against No Way Jose at the WWE NXT event in Tulsa on Saturday. Murphy later posted on Twitter "Next time @WWENoWayJose & myself meet! I'll be knocking HIS teeth out! #NXTTulsa?. Later in the event, the Asuka vs. Alexa Bliss match had to be stopped because a high knee from Asuka caused Alexa to bleed profusely.
Tyler Breeze was working the NXT tour in Oklahoma this past week but don't read anything into that about his being sent back down. He's actually got an angle for the first time in a while on the main roster.
Mick Foley will be hosting a podcast on the WWE Network and his first guest will be none other than Shane McMahon. Shane is the third McMahon family member following his father and sister to appear on a WWE Network podcast, with Vince appearing on the Stone Cold Podcast and Stephanie appearing on Live with Chris Jericho. The podcast will be live on Monday, May 23 following Monday Night Raw. This will be the post-Extreme Rules Raw. WWE is marketing this interview as "Shane McMahon tell all podcast." In a tweet, Mick Foley said that he's very excited about his interview with Shane O'Mac, his first time hosting such a thing. Shane, on the other hand, has not done any in-depth interviews with anyone since his departure and return so it will be interesting to see where this goes considering McMahon seems to now be back full time with the company. The WWE Network is free for a month for first-time subscribers.
WWE has announced a new ?Tell All Podcast? with Shane McMahon and host Mick Foley for Monday, May 23rd, the day after "Extreme Rules". The podcast will air live on the WWE Network In Baltimore, MD backstage after RAW goes off the air. There has been a lot of talk over Foley hosting the podcast and not Steve Austin, who has had several ?Stone Cold Podcast? specials on the WWE Network. A recent poll on future Austin guests even had Shane listed. In regards to Austin not hosting, Foley responded to a fan on Twitter and noted that Austin had a prior obligation. He wrote "Of course @steveaustinBSR is the logical (and probably better) choice ? but I was told he has a previous commitment."
Ric Flair was not on the road with WWE last weekend. WWE Women?s Champion Charlotte defeated Natalya in Bismarck, ND on Friday and Flair was nowhere to be seen. It?s possible WWE gave Flair some time off after the recent airport incident in Boston, MA.
Ric Flair?s airport incident in Boston, MA last week reportedly has nothing to do with Flair being banned from ringside during the Submission Match between Charlotte and Natalya at the May 22nd "Extreme Rules" pay-per-view.
WWE is working on a new book about Ric Flair to come out in the fall of 2016. The book will focus on Flair?s relationship with WWE Women?s Champion Charlotte, his personal life, and how the good & bad influenced his daughter to get into the pro wrestling business.
The ?30 For 30? ESPN special on Ric Flair is still being worked on with lots of interviews done. Word is that it will premiere later this summer some time.
The new "Table for 3" episode on WWE Network will feature Pat Patterson, Ricky Steamboat, and Hillbilly Jim.
World League Wrestling posted on Facebook "Yes, the 2016 Harley Race Wrestling Camp is now set for August! Before that, there will be an opportunity for those who have no experience! The 2-day beginners camp is a unique opportunity for those who do not have any in-ring experience in professional wrestling, and want to find out what it is like! Oklafan congratulates The Terror Squad, who recently surpassed 6 months as IWR Tag Team Champions. The combination of D Money and Montego Seeka defeated Guy Atticus in a Handicap Match to become the inaugural champions on November 7, 2015 at an event in Durant. The Terror Squad has since added MVP, Marce Lewis, and Nytronis A'Teo and all 5 members of the group are recognized as champions.
Oklafan congratulates Steven Shotzman on the birth of his nephew Korbin on May 6th.
Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Billy Wicks, who passed away on May 7th at the age of 84 due to complications from a stroke. Wicks began amateur wrestling at the age of 15 at his local YMCA, but realized quickly how bad he was when he was beaten by two different blind kids on different days. He began training with an Olympic wrestler four or five nights a week after that. Wicks began working at carnival wrestling at the age of 19 and trained in that style with many notable names including Farmer Burns and Ed Lewis. A stint in the Army happened in the 1950s, but he continued to wrestle while on active duty. During his active career, he is probably best known for his feud with Sputnik Monroe. Their matches established record attendance records in Memphis, TN breaking records established by Elvis Presley. Much of this feud is documented in "Memphis Heat: The True Story of Memphis Wrasslin?", which was released in 2013. After retiring, Wicks entered law enforcement in Memphis and was the personal body guard for Judge Preston Battle, who heard the case of James Earl Ray for the shooting of Martin Luther King, Jr. Wicks also continued to train people in submission-style wrestling. Wicks has 7 documented matches in Oklahoma. The earliest being a loss to Mr. Sasaki on November 4, 1957 in Tulsa and the last being a loss to Roberto Pico on January 6, 1958.
