Tim Storm, APOC, Amber O'neal And the Sons of Texas Prove Victorious

It was a 100 per cent successful night for champions at NWA Texoma's February show in Sherman, Texas. Three singles challengers and a strangely dysfunctional tag team fell short in bids to wrestle away title belts from NWA North American Champion Tim Storm, NWA Texoma Champion APOC The Apocalyptic Menace, NWA Women's World Champion Amber O'neal, and NWA Texoma Tag Team Champions The Sons of Texas.

Mr. Storm in short order dispatched a game but overmatched Kristopher Haiden, APOC withstood a stout challenge from Aces & Eights namesake Mike Knox, the Bullet Babe O'neal overcame a strong effort from Nikki Knight, and The Sons of Texas Killer McKenzie and Moonshine Mantell defeated Team Imperialist in one of the strangest tag team finishes you'll ever see.

Trouble in the Rabid Empire

We feel compelled to begin our report with news of the strange public disintegration of Team Imperialist, a star-crossed pairing of Charlie Haas and Griffin that is now forever broken. A match that saw the much-despised Sons of Texas become crowd favorites ? if only for a night ? ended with Mr. Haas stomping his partner in the face while Imperialist Manager Nigel Rabid stood over the fallen Griffin, shouting insults to a man who had begun the night as a trusted stablemate.

Yes, wrestling fans, it was that bizarre!

?Ladies and gentlemen, we don't like you and you don't like us, but we can all agree: He's a Haashole!? Killer McKenzie shouted, pointing to Mr. Haas just before the opening bell. And just like that, the oft-despised Sons of Texas were adopted as favorites by the record crowd, who began to chant, over and over, ?Haashole! Haashole! Haashole!?

"We do have a different crowd tonight, a lot of new faces," legendary commentator Rob Moore told his television audience on Joe Exotic TV. "The fans cheered for the Sons of Texas, a first at NWA Texoma."

Ref Knight Lays Out Charlie

In another surprise twist, referee George Knight, perturbed by Imperialist shenanigans, drove Mr. Haas to the canvas with a stout shoulder tackle. A smiling Moonshine Mantell then raised the ref's right arm in triumph ? and Charlie wisely refused to retaliate.

Angered by the crowd's chant of ?Killer! Killer! Killer!? while Mr. McKenzie was putting the hurt on Griffin, Manager Rabid managed to distract the ref and rile up the emotional Moonshine. While the ref and Moonshine were arguing in a corner, Griffin and Mr. Haas double-teamed the Killer and knocked him senseless. When the ref returned to the fray, it looked as if the Killer would be counted out.

But hubris got the best of Charlie Haas, who decided to leap off the top rope for a dramatic finisher. Instead, the Killer raised his right leg just in time to land a boot squarely on Charlie's chin. Both brawlers, stunned and battered, crawled to their respective corners and tagged out.
Slammed into the Ring Pole

Into the ring leaped Moonshine and Griffin, who engaged in a heated battle. Meanwhile, on the floor beside the apron, Mr. Haas and the Killer were putting on a fight of their own, which ended when Charlie slammed the Killer's head into a ring pole, knocking Mr. McKenzie senseless.

Traitor! OK, we'll admit, we may not have seen all the action ? it was way crazy ? but we can report that somewhere during the fray Moonshine laid a double drop kick on Team Imperialist, dropping both foes to the ring floor. We think that was when Mr. Haas rolled out to drive the Killer's head into the pole, but we won't swear to it. We also remember Mr. Mantell delivering a devastating power slam to Griffin, setting up a finishing pin. "One," counted the ref. "Two!" But before Mr. Knight could count "Three," Manager Rabid snuck into the ring and pulled the ref away.

Eventually, Moonshine and Griffin were facing off, both determined to bring an end to the madness. With the Killer incapacitated from his collision with the ring pole, Charlie grabbed the championship belt, entered the ring to Moonshine's rear, and snuck up behind his foe, acting as if he were going to bash Mr. Mantell on the back of the head.
Haas Stomps and Spits on His Partner

Suddenly, Moonshine moved to his left, creating an opening for the charging Charlie Haas, who smashed the belt hard into his partner Griffin's face, dropping him to the canvas. That's right: into the face of his tag team brother! Mr. Haas then stomped Griffin squarely on the head and spat in his face. Turning to Moonshine, he invited Mr. Mantell to make the pin, ?One, two, three!? It was over, and the Sons of Texas had retained their belt.

?What in the world did Griffin do to Charlie Haas?? TV commentator Rob Moore said in astonishment. ?We have a crisis with the Imperialist, a crisis in the Rabid Empire.?

With the fans chanting ?traitor! traitor! traitor,? Manager Rabid grabbed the ring announcer's microphone and stood directly over the fallen Griffin. ?And you! You cost Charlie Haas not once, but twice the NWA Texoma Tag Team Championship,? Mr. Rabid screamed. ?You're not worthy to be an Imperialist. And you're not worthy to be in The Rabid Empire.?

The ?once? in Manager Rabid's rant referred to last summer's first match between Imperialist and The Sons of Texas, when Killer and Moonshine wrestled the belt away from Imperialist with Mr. Griffin taking the pinfall.

So, the bond is broken, the tag team a dead issue. Griffin managed to flatten Nigel Rabid before leaving the ring, but some will say that is small consolation for a bitter and humiliating defeat.
The Other Matches

Mike Foxx was scheduled to fight Tim Storm in a ?Title Versus Career Match,? but a family emergency intruded and Mr. Foxx had to cancel ? which is just as well for the challenger, who would have been hard-pressed to best The Perfect Storm, who is wrestling at the top of his game. Mike's replacement, Kristopher Haide, Amber and Nikki struck a few blows but fell quickly to a left ankle lock and tapped out. ?He was bending that ankle something awful,? announcer Moore said of the champion.

In a preliminary, Mixed Martial Arts master and NWA Texoma veteran Jerome Daniels put a sharp knee to the back of the head of California newcomer Chris Crotte, knocking the visitor unconscious for the victory.

As he predicted in an interview with The Indie Tribune a couple of days before the match, Dirty Andy Dalton defeated fellow Texan Jesse ?Can't Be Broken? Sorensen, ending the tussle with a sharply executed brainbuster.

Amber O'neal struggled for a while against up-'n-comer Nikki Knight, but ultimately prevailed with a backslide pinfall.

In the main event for the NWA Texoma title, the champion APOC The Apocalyptic Menace won a ferocious and brutal encounter against Mike Knox. The 6-foot-5 and 315-pound challenger gave APOC all he could handle and appeared to be on the verge of victory with a punishing blow, ?a clothesline from hell,? as Mr. Moore described it. ?Knox nearly took APOC's head off with that one.?

But APOC kicked out, rallied, and began to gain the upper hand. He secured the victory with a show of might as he lifted the massive challenger over his head to apply his trademark closer, The End of Days.
