The New Champion

The New Champion

Sometimes ... when the stakes are high ... and the ring bell sounds three times to signal the match is underway ... two close friends can become momentary foes in a battle for the prize.

Such was the case last Sunday (Dec. 13) when Chris Cambridge looked across the ring into the eyes of his close friend Jerry The Boss Bostic, who was the only man standing in the way of Mr. Cambridge's first professional championship.

"There was a lot of emotion, a lot on the line," Chris said. "It's always tough when you battle against someone who is a good friend, somebody that you know really, really well. You tend to anticipate their moves and what they're going to do in the ring. Once we got started it was back and forth all the way to the end."

The one move that mattered most in the main event at Ardmore, Oklahoma, was Chris Cambridge's Sitout Powerbomb. "I used my finisher on him," Chris said. And with that power move, Chris Cambridge defeated his compadre by pinfall to win the Imperial Wrestling Revolution's Heavyweight Championship.

The championship belt is the first for Mr. Cambridge, a native of Drumright, Oklahoma, who has wrestled professionally for two years. "I've always been a fan of the sport," he said. "Now, to be able to entertain my fans in the way I was entertained in my youth ? well, that's really what it's all about for me. Everything I have I owe to the fans."

At 6-foot, 6-inches and 260 pounds, Mr. Cambridge brings an imposing physical force to the ring. Outside the ropes he is very much the gentleman: thoughtful, soft-spoken, and considerate of others.
Awesome and Humbling

The 32-year-old star now holds the first championship ever awarded by IWR, an up-and-coming company with big plans for the future. "This is my first and only championship, and it's awesome," he said. "It's a great feeling to represent IWR and an honor to be carrying the belt as the face of the company. It's also very humbling."
