Jerry Lawler ? Pays Tribute to Rockwell ? For New Comic Cover
Posted: Oct 27th 2015 By: Ryan Satin
WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler has put a wrestling inspired twist on a Norman Rockwell classic ? telling Pro Wrestling Sheet he?s excited to pay tribute to the artist for a new comic book cover.
The cover for ?Headlocked: The Last Territory Vol.2? is a clear riff on the famous Rockwell painting ?The Discovery? ? and Lawler tells us it?s because growing up Norman was one of his favorites.
?I always loved the almost photorealism that he could achieve, but also that he was a master storyteller.? The King adds, ?A lot of artists would paint a landscape or scene, but he could paint an entire story in that one picture.?
Headlocked tells the story of a college theater major who drops out to become a pro wrestler. The art is done entirely by wrestlers, with 13 televised stars contributing to the stories.
Volume 2 is slated for release in late November.
