Q & A Recap With Seth Rollins and Charlotte From Wizard World In Tulsa
Posted: Oct 25th 2015 By: CMBurnham
WWE World Champion Seth Rollins and WWE World Divas Champion Charlotte participated in a Q & A Saturday at the Wizard World Convention in Tulsa. The following is a summary of the panel.
After both wrestlers were on the stage, the moderator said he felt a little left out. Rollins asked if that was because was not a champion.
Charlotte showed off a new Rolex which her dad gave her. Compared it to the one that Shawn Michaels gave her dad after his retirement match. Rollins said he had a Nixon Watch which cost him $200.
Questions from the audience then commenced.
Question: Both wrestlers have held top singles titles in WWE and NXT. What were the differences? Rollins said that the WWE Title is better. Being the first NXT Champion was great, but it was just starting. It is not the same title that Finn Balor currently holds. He always wanted the WWE Title. There is a lot of pressure being champion and people do not see the responsibility that comes with that title. Every night, he has to be the man because guys like Cesaro and Randy Orton want to be in his position. Charlotte said it is a big difference. Her match in NXT put her on the map because she did not have much experience at that point. She will always be grateful to Natalya. Like Rollins, Charlotte feels pressure because of the Divas title. The fan base of NXT grew with her and saw her progress. Now she feels like she is starting over. There is plenty of talent in the Divas division like Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch and Bailey will be joining soon. She also feels the pressure of carrying on the legacy of her father. She even questions whether to Whoo. Sometimes it comes out naturally. She wants to be a role model for kids and takes the role very seriously, wanting to eventually main event a PPV. The moderator suggests Charlotte go for the WWE World Title. Rollins questions whether that means he should go for the Divas Title.
Question: Who is your favourite opponent? Charlotte said she does not have a single favourite, listing Bailey, Sasha, Becky and Natalya all as favourites of hers. Rollins said Dean Ambrose and John Cena are his.
Question (from a very young fan) for Rollins: Who is your worst enemy? Rollins said currently it is Kane, but he has made a lot of enemies over the past year.
Question for Charlotte: Besides Ric Flair, who is her favourite male wrestler? She said it was Dusty Rhodes.
Question: WWE feels like it is in a transition period. What do they think wrestling will look like in 5 years? Rollins said this is a tough question. They do not feel like it is a transition period. The only transition is in the roster. There is a different roster and the work ethic has been raised. There is no time for complacency and laziness. He and Charlotte do not take time off and others in the locker room are the same. Slowly, they are getting were they want to be. As long as he is around, he will do is part to make it better. Personally, Rollins hopes he is still walking in 5 years.
Question: Both started in NXT. Triple H runs it and Vince takes care of the main roster. Do they see Triple H and Stephanie taking over the main roster and making it more like NXT? Rollins asked if the questioner was trying to get him to bury his boss. It is all one thing. All WWE. All working together. A lot of fans do not understand what goes into a RAW broadcast. NXT does 4 episodes once a month. RAW is live every week. There is no opportunity for foresight compared to NXT. NXT is only broadcast on the WWE Network with no outside interference. USA has expectations for RAW. Rollins compares it to playing poker. Sometimes you get pocket aces and sometimes you get off-suit 2 & 9, but you have to play what you get. Everyone, regardless of who is running the ship, is busting their asses to make it the best it can be.
Question: Sting (who is the favourite wrestler of the person asking the question) said that Rollins as not scratched the surface of who he is. Rollins said that was pretty outrageous for Sting to say. Implies that Sting was a hero of Rollins when he was growing up.
Question for Charlotte: Is there any Diva from the past that she would like to wrestle? Charlotte said no. If she could face anyone, it would be Sara Del Ray or Stephanie McMahon.
Question for Charlotte: What was it like growing up as a Flair? And did she grow up thinking she would be a wrestler? Charlotte, NC was small and kids were used to Ric Flair coming around. Ric traveled a lot. Growing up, all Charlotte wanted to be was a wrestler. She had a hue crush on Sting and told a story about him giving her a quarter and telling her to call him when she got older. When Sting came to WWE, she told him she still had that quarter. Seeing her brother David struggle in WCW and her brother Reid struggle on the indies, she put that aside and played volleyball in college. Reid was responsible for getting her back in because he wanted her to wrestle with him.
Question: Who is the funniest person on the roster? Rollins says Becky Lynch thinks she is. Heath Slater is unintentionally funny. Ziggler is quick. Rusev is hilarious, although that may just be due to the language barrier. Charlotte says Becky is the funniest.
Question for Charlotte (from a young fan): How did she get so good? Charlotte thanked the girl for thinking she is good and credits Sara Del Ray. Most girls had experience on the indies when they came in to NXT, so it was a combination of training and her coach.
Question (from the same fan) for Seth: How would he feel if he lost his title Sunday? Rollins said he had a good run, but he would be busting his butt to get it back.
Question for Seth: Who was his dream opponent that is not on the WWE Roster? Rollins said from the past, people like Arn Anderson, Shawn Michaels and Curt Hennig stand out, but currently the one guy he never had a programme with, even when they were together in ROH, was Samoa Joe.
Question for Charlotte: Will we see a Divas Tag Team Title? Charlotte hopes so and says the girls in the back have been pitching that idea.
Question (from the same fan) for Seth: What went through his mind when he broke the nose of John Cena in Oklahoma City on RAW? Seth said he just did his thing and that John had to worry about his face. As soon as he felt the nose crunch under the kneepad, Rollins knew something was wrong. Due to protocols, the match stopped temporarily and officials came in, but Cena is a tough SOB. From there on, they just needed to get through the match. John is a trooper and did it. Mentally, you go from being in an intense fight to being concerned and it was though to try to keep in character.
Question for Charlotte: There was a lot of positive response to the Divas Revolution, but some was negative. What would she have changed about it, if anything? Charlotte said in NXT, there was not just a sudden appearance of the Four Horsewomen. Each were special and their matches got better over time. She wishes the new audience could have seen the talent and watched it grow instead of having it introduced all at once. She is not certain why they are considered a revolution because in her mind, the revolution started when Trish Stratus and Lita main evented an episode of RAW. She is happy with how it is going, but wishes it had not been labeled that way.
Question: If Charlotte could main event WrestleMania, who would be her opponent? Charlotte says Sasha Banks.
Question (from the same person): If Seth Rollins was not a wrestler, what would he be doing? Rollins said he had no idea because this was all he wanted to do, so he would probably be driving to some bingo hall in Kentucky for an indie event.
Question (for Rollins): Would he rather face Shawn Michaels or Dean Ambrose at a WrestleMania? Rollins says he means no disrespect to Ambrose, but obviously it would be Shawn.
Question (for Charlotte): who would she like to face a WrestleMania? Charlotte said that if it could not be Sasha Banks or Natalya, maybe she would like to face Stephanie McMahon.
