Magnum T. A. was left almost speechless by the Chris Benoit murder-suicide case.

"I don't know if I've ever been more stunned by anything in my 48 years.", said Terry Allen, a former WCW and WWE pro wrestler who went by the name "Magnum T. A." during his career. "It's just a tragedy beyond words".

Fayette county authourities on Tuesday said Benoit killed his wife and child before hanging himself at his residence.

Allen and Benoit last spoke when Allen was at Bobcats Arena in Charlotte last Tuesday for taping of its "Smackdown" and "ECW" shows. The two men shared what would be their last meaningful conversation that evening, but Allen said he left with no inkling that anything might be wrong.

"Over the years, I've known people who were depressed," Allen said, "but you would never get any vibe from [Benoit] that anything was remotely wrong in his life. it just takes your breath away."

Allen was in Houston on Sunday evening, where it was announced that Benoit would not be appearing due to a "family emergency".

Allen wondered what might be amiss, but never envisioned the tragedy that was unfolding. Allen said that he also knew Benoit's wife, Nancy, when she was married to former professional wrestler Kevin Sullivan.

Like the rest of the wrestling world, he's having a difficult time coming to terms with what transpired.

"This was the last thing in the world anyone expected," Allen said.
