The graduates of the Hungerford School in the Clifton section of Staten Island saw not only family and friends looking at them from the crowd, but also a famous and familiar face.
Mick Foley, known to millions of wrestling fans as 'Mankind' or 'Cactus Jack' or one of several other aliases, was on hand for the school's graduation ceremonies this morning, which featured keynote speaker Philip Althein, the CEO Belway Electric.
"I'm always thrilled to be part of Hungerford's graduations," said Foley, who was also in attendance for the school's 2005 graduation ceremony. "Congratulations to the class of 2007. I hope I can be a part of it again next year."
Foley, a former "Principal for the Day" at the Clifton school and an occasional guest at Staten Island Yankees games, is a three-time World Wrestling Federation champion (now known as World Wrestling Entertainment), has made numerous appearances for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Christian Children's Fund and has authored eight books, several of which were top sellers on the New York Times' bestseller list. His second book, Foley is Good: And The Real World is Faker Than Wrestling, debuted at No. 1 on the Times list when it was released in 2001.
