Ric Flair will be speaking at the dinner banquet prior to the Bob Nessler Memorial golf tournament. Brad Nessler, the event's organizer, said that he wanted to "shake things up" this year. "I'm a huge pro wrestling fan," said Nessler. "I remember as a kid coming into Rochester and watching AWA fights with my grandfather. Through the years I got to know Ric. He's from Edina and I asked if he would be interested in doing our banquet. He said yes, he would be honored. I'm a big fan of his and he's a big college basketball and football fan so we share common interests." This event in Rochester, MN, is open to the public.
It has been reported that Ric Flair's former financial adviser, Scott Strorick, filed a motion to dimiss the $500,000 lawsuit Flair filed against him for mismanagement of his portfolio.
The Saturday Night's Main Event match featuring Kane, Eugene and Doink the Clown vs. Umaga, Kevin Thorn, and Viscera was originally to also feature Goldust and Kamala. The plan was to book Kane, Goldust, Shannon Moore and Kamala vs. Umaga, Viscera, Doink the Clown and Kevin Thorn. No word on who portrayed Doink, but it more than likely was not Dusty Wolfe, who portrays Doink here in Oklahoma, nor Matt Borne who was the original Doink.
Speaking of Doink the Clown, he has been added to the alumni section on WWE.com and most of the pictures appear to be of Matt Borne portraying Doink.
Mick Foley and former pro wrestler turned politician Brian Blair was present backstage during the "WWE RAW" telecast on June 4th but neither were shown on TV.
Apparently there has been some internal talk within WWE of bringing back former ECW boss Paul Heyman, but not in a creative capacity. Reports are that the idea being discussed would have Heyman returning to the fold as a heel manager. At this point, Vince McMahon is said to be lukewarm to the idea, with the creative forces of Brian Gerwitz, Michael Hayes, and Bruce Prichard heavily lobbying against it. Apparently the talk of bringing back Paul Heyman was nothing substantial. There had been an idea pitched for Heyman returning to television as a heel manager. It appears those that oppose Heyman’s return the most include Stephanie McMahon and Michael Hayes.
The Jerry Lawler vs. Mr. Hughes show at Sam Town's Casino in Tunica, MS only drew 250. In the match, Lawler was disqualified when the WWE Hall of Famer threw a fire ball, but Mr. Hughes moved and it hit the referee.
AWA promoter Dale Gagner sent a cease-and-desist letter to Memphis Wrestling since Jerry Lawler was putting up the AWA World title against Mr. Hughes.
Jerry "The King" Lawler worked some Carolinas indie shows last weekend as part of Dukefest, a festival for fans of "The Dukes of Hazzard."

Jackie Gayda, the wife of WWE wrestler Charlie Haas, was released the first week of May by TNA. She was phoned with the decision and then faxed a confirmation of her release.
TNA Booker Dutch Mantel was adamant that people remain with Scott Steiner for his surgery in Puerto Rico. Jeremy Borash, Abyss, and Jeff Jarrett remained in Puerto Rico to be with Steiner during the surgery.
There was an article in Tuesday's Nassau Tribune regarding Ted DiBiase, Nikita Koloff, and Lex Luger who are among a group of celebrities at a show giving positive spiritual messages at BahamaFest 07, a concert Wednesday at Clifford Park. Sting was supposed to join the group on Wednesday, but had to cancel at the last minute when his brother's church lost its lease.
Reports have Jeff Jarrett totally immersing himself in wrestling, following the recent passing of his wife Jill.
Scott Steiner was injured at last Sunday's TNA house show in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Steiner teamed with Robert Roode against Jeff Jarrett and Apolo. Reports are circulating that Steiner took a kick to the neck from Apolo. Apparently he seemed fine until 2 AM, and was rushed to the hospital when he was having trouble breathing. Steiner was scheduled to undergo surgery on his trachea as a result of the kick on Monday. Scott and Rick Steiner were programmed against TNA World Tag Team Champions Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) at the June 17th "Slammiversary" pay-per-view in Nashville, TN, but that match appears to be in jeopardy. TNA is considering replacing Scott with another wrestler to team up with his brother Rick against Team 3D
TNA have been discussing creating X Division Tag Team Titles, but it is not supported by Jeff Jarrett.
