JR's Blog: Ross Report Podcast News, Sheik, Cornette, Kelly, Super Bowl, Austin/HHH Tonight, UFC183, Chipolte Ketchup, Shop JR's Online

Posted: Feb 3rd 2015 By: Jim Ross

Greetings on a great beginning of the week. @MarkMaddenX on the #RossReport Podcast on one of our most popular shows, ....@the_IronSheik drops Tuesday night at 9 ET and tomorrow I'm chatting with @TheJimCornette talking about his "Lost Mid Atlantic Wrestling Tapes" and much more at podcastone.com and via iTunes. ROH's Kevin Kelly will join me for the show that drops February 17 to talk ROH PPV. Our guest lineup is conveniently located on the home page of this site and it's changing. Let's grill...

Hope that you were on the right side of the Super Bowl as I picked the Pats but was pulling for Seattle. Not sure how many more SB's New England has left in them specifically at QB with Brady getting older but Seattle, if they can keep their nucleus in tact should be a player for years to come especially if QB Russell Wilson signs a new deal and continues to grow as a player. Belichick likes to reload and their drafting and free agent system is one of the NFL's best but one doesn't easily replace a Tom Brady when that fateful day arrives.

I'd love to do @Skittles commercial some day with Marshawn Lynch as I guarantee that we could increase sales.

Hopefully, the HHH podcast with Steve Austin won't be the best part of my Monday night WWE viewing as the two former rivals have a tough act to follow after the Austin/McMahon podcast of a few weeks ago. I'm curious to see what twists and turns this interview takes as it should be a revealing and entertaining hour or so of programming. Austin and Jericho are the beneficiaries of having the WWE Network behind them with their respective podcasts.

IMO the more original @WWENetwork programming WWE can create the better in my view. Things like Austin/HHH should be good for the network and is relatively inexpensive to produce.

Some never say die fans are still complaining about Roman Reigns winning the Royal Rumble but I'd guess by next week it won't be such a big deal to the vocal minority. None of us know what shape of the WM31 card is going to resemble in it's final rendition. I'm happy to wait and see as I can't affect the card any more than anyone reading this.

Plus, my guess is that many who say that they won't watch WM31 will be unable to resist temptation especially for $9.99.

Question...do you think that most vocal wrestling fans are as passionate regarding other, more important aspects of their lives as they are about pro wrestling? Just curious....

Warren Sapp was a great defensive lineman in the NFL but his judgment since has been dubious. Seems as if he may have avoided the authorities a time or two, I don't know, but in today's climate Sapp will be challenged to keep his job at Fox Sports. Too many ex-jocks looking for work.

Enjoyed UFC 183 even though Silva vs Diaz was good but not great. Nice to see Spider back in the Octagon nonetheless.

For those who think that they may have Sleep Apnea I strongly suggest that you consult your doctor as this test is easy and covered by most insurance. Or you can ignore it and eventually die before your time. I had sleep apnea my entire 21 year WWE run and when I moved back to Oklahoma I had a sleep study done and I stopped breathing 99 times in 60 minutes. I never reached rim sleep in over twenty years. I'm lucky I'm still here.

After talking with several MMA aficionados over the past several days they agree that it is ignorant for those MMA purists to diss CM Punk for getting into MMA w/ UFC including the fact that Brock Lesnar may well stick is toe back into UFC waters. It's all about the cash and bringing press to the brand in a positive manner. What it actually is would be a no brainer to sane individuals.

No one in MMA, boxing or pro wrestling has enough box office attractions even if said attractions turns out to be a one hit wonder. That's why now is a good time to take calculated risks.

From a creative standpoint, I could easily see Bubba Dudley returning to WWE if for no other reason to allow Bubba to work with the younger talents on the road at live events. Young talents cannot improve working with those who have the same or less than them skill sets.

More JR's Chipotle Ketchup will be in stock later this week at WWEShop.com. Our ketchup has become a red hot seller.

UK and Irish fans remember that you can order JR's directly from americansoda.co.uk and beyondtheropes.co.uk

We are working on more RINGSIDE w/ Jim Ross Shows and hope to have new dates to announce in the next few weeks. We hope to have a show in San Jose at WM31 but if not we plan on watching WM31 at home.

Food for thought...the wrestling term "grab a hold" doesn't have any thing to do with "apply a hold" and multiple strikes to the face that leaves no evidence or DNA is an expose to the business. That's all.

What's arguably the biggest thing missing in the pro wrestling business today? For my money it is talents riding town to town on 5-7 day tours once or twice a month and the fact that each young wrestler needs a mentor. Too many young wrestlers think that they know all the tricks of the trade especially ring psychology when in fact many haven't a clue....of course that opinion would be inaccurate if all the talents were paid by the bump or 'THIS IS AWESOME" chants.

Q&A's here are updated.

I'm very interested in broadcasting Ken Shamrock's BKB (Bare Knuckle Boxing) debut in April from Manchester, England on ippv. Not sure that it can be worked out but we hope to talk this week. Sounds like a fun, new gig as it's straight boxing except no hand coverings whatsoever.

Big football week for us Sooners as I will be attending Coach Bob Stoops recruiting luncheon this Wednesday at the stadium. Fingers crossed that we close some 11th hour deals.
