A Deal With The Devil

A Deal With The Devil

Posted: Jan 31st 2015 By: CMBurnham

In 1865, the United States concluded a war that resulted in ending slavery in the country.

Sadly, 150 years later, no one has communicated that to Richard Pierce.

Pierce has been the guiding light behind Richie Adams in his ongoing war with the Canadian Red Devil, but things took a drastic turn at the end of 2014 as the Devil was forced to make a decision where there was no choice but a bad choice for him,

Ever since Adams returned, he had targeted the Canadian Red Devil and run interference to keep CRD away from the man who took the ComPro title away from him, Jake O'Brien. In October, Adams and CRD looked to face off one-on-one. It quickly became apparent that Adams was not prepared to face CRD as he ran to the outside of the ring...and then to the outside of the building with CRD in pursuit. Obviously nothing got resolved in that case, so COMPOUND management decided that at the next event on November 1st, with the spirit of Halloween still in the ir, CRD and Adams would face off in a Casket Match.

Casket Matches are very rarely seen as most wrestlers dislke facing their inate fear of death. But CRD showed no fear on his mask as he stepped in and dominated the match, pulling out a victory against Adams. If CRD believed that was the end of the situation, he was sadly mistaken as Adams attacked CRD from behind after the match and the entire locker room emptied to keep the two of them from killing each other. Seeing that things were getting seriously out of control with both men on the roster, COMPOUND Management upped the ante for the following month. At the December event, Adams and CRD would face each other one more time in a match where a contract of employment for 2015 would be on a pole above the ring and the first wrestler to grab it would continue to be on the COMPOUND roster. The other man would be fired!

With their careers in their home feds on the line, both men brought nothing less than their top game. CRD had been a mainstay of wrestling in Tulsa since 2004 and Adams rarely ventured out of the area since debuting in 2010. So much pride and prestige, but most importantly, lots of money as a COMPOUND roster member. When December 6 rolled around, the two of them had all their futures locked in a briefcase hung high above the ring. The frustration and desperation became overwhelming as the match went on. CRD tried to tie Adams up like a pretzel and Adams pulled out plenty of underhanded tactics. And just as it appeared that CRD had the match in control, Adams pulled out what had to be considered a devastating shocker and grabbed the briefcase, winning the match.

11 years of dedication had come crashing to an end with this moment. A forlorn CRD sat dejected in the ring and COMPOUND commissioner Mike Iles came out. As sincerely as he could, Iles thanked CRD for all his years of entertaining the crowd and then wished CRD well. And that was the point where the light bulb went on over Richard Pierce's head. Pierce headed back into the ring and grabbed the microphone, then approached CRD with an offer that he knew the Devil couldn't refuse. Pierce knew that people came to COMPOUND to see the Devil and he knew that translated into money. He also knew that CRD desperately wanted to continue to be an active member of the COMPOUND roster. So, in that vein, he offered CRD an option. He could abide by the terms of the stiplulation and leave or he could remain on the roster, but he would have to become a member of Pierce's roster nd take orders from him.

CRD was obvisously conflicted. He didn't want to leave. But he didn't want to sell his soul to someone as deserving of the title "Devil" as he was. In the end, with an obvious amount of regret, CRD agreed to go into Pierce's servitude and the deal with the Devil was done.

Since that time, CRD has not actually competed in a match in COMPOUND. He did accompany Jake O'Brien to the ring on January 3rd, but on January 24th, Pierce gave him the night off. However, rumour has it that on February 7th, Pierce has negotiated a Tag Team Title opportunity for Adams and CRD against the new Tag Team Champions Spanish Mayhem. While CRD is usually pleased to see opportunities for for gold to be wrapped around his waist, in this instance, it would mean more prestige for Pierce. And the reward for CRD seems minimal.

Because no one rewards those who do slave labour.
