Former WWF Wrestler Refuses to Give Up ? Even Though He?s Now a Double Amputee

At the height of professional wrestling?s popularity, James Harris (Kamala the Ugandan Giant) was one of the most feared characters in the WWF. He grappled with Stone Cold Steve Austin, Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, and other superstars.
Though many of his fellow wrestlers became millionaires, James eventually ended up becoming a trucker to make ends meet. He told Bleacher Report, ?If I had been a better talker, if I?d have known how to negotiate, that probably would?ve helped me.?
These days, Harris, is back living in rural Mississippi and is struggling financially after losing both legs to diabetes. His kidneys are failing, and he is on dialysis daily. His wife recently lost her job, which has added to the strain.
But Harris is facing this adversity the way he has faced every setback in life ? looking for solutions and refusing to be cast as a victim.
He builds wooden chairs by hand, branding each with his ?Kamala? signature before selling them online for $150.
And once his former WWF ?handler,? Kenny Casanova, known as Kim Chee, heard about Kamala?s plight, he came up with a creative solution. On a Kickstarter page, he says:
?I figured Kamala?s story alone in book form could be one answer to lost earnings. If written correctly, it could mean great supplemental income for Kamala for years to come. So, I picked up the phone and made the call.?
In addition to his health and financial problems, Harris has also endured the death of his son to AIDS and his sister?s murder. Yet he?s not asking for pity.
?Don?t feel sorry for me, If you want to, encourage me. Embrace me. I?m going to be all right?just like I?ve always been.?
Because, as he also says, ?Life is worth living.?
