The elusive third jewel now secure in the Texas, Inc. crown

The elusive third jewel now secure in the Texas, Inc. crown

Posted: May 21st 2007 By: mikeiles

Texas Inc., consisting of "Terrific" Tim Rockwell and Bernard Funk and their manager Big Stevie Caballero, have made the point known time and time again that they are the best tag team in Oklahoma. Now that they are the reigning tag team champions in 3 major Oklahoma federations, that claim could possibly be 100% truth.

Rockwell and Funk have been teaming together for almost two years, and in those two years they have fine tuned themselves into a force to be reckoned with. Their run to the so-called "Triple Crown" of Oklahoma tag team wrestling began December 9, 2006 when Caballero came into the fold and turned on Sudden Impact allowing Texas, Inc. to pick up the win and become the 1st ever Compound Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions. Title number two came on March 17, 2007 when they outlasted seven other teams in a Tag Team Battle Royal to claim the first ever SWCW Tag Team Championship, again with Caballero managing their affairs.

Title number three however, proved to be rather elusive. Texas, Inc. came up short in their attempt to win the NWA Universal Tag Team Titles from Mass Destruction on April 14th and also were not in the final match to crown the first ever FCW Tag Team Champions on May 5th, eventually won by The Compound Varsity. Ironically Caballero was not in the corner of Texas, Inc. in FCW and also does not manage them in NWA-U. Could he have been the one that kept the team focused? All the naysayers were silenced this past Saturday when Texas, Inc. (still without Caballero in their corner) finally reached their goal by defeating Mass Destruction to become the NWA-U Tag Team Champions and thus completing the "Triple Crown".

However, Texas, Inc. are not ones to rest on their laurels. So let's take a look at the other feds in Oklahoma:

They have already made some noise about wanting to go to AACW and win that company's vacant tag team straps. They both have worked for AACW in the past, Funk most recently, so they have knowledge of the roster.

Funk has never wrestled for IZW and Rockwell had one match back for them back in 2006 when he was still known as Timmy J. Both of them are familiar with Tyler Bateman and Kenny Campbell from their days in SRPW. Could Texas, Inc. be chomping at the bit to face IZW Tag Team Champions Team Shenanigans?

Texas, Inc. was scheduled to wrestle at the MSWA show in Harrah on May 12th, but that show was cancelled. Neither Rockwell nor Funk has wrestled for MSWA, at least not in recent memory.

UWF06 does not currently have tag team straps.

FCW only runs spot shows so Texas, Inc will have to wait for their opportunity for these titles.

In addition, being the champions in three different federations, makes them the hunted times three. They recently lost a non-title Triple Threat Match in SWCW to Warrior Elite. Rest assured they will be making adjustments and use every trick in the book to try and keep the titles firmly around their waists.

But whether they are going after titles they don't have or defending the ones the do, all teams should heed the warning on the front of Texas, Inc.'s matching singlets: "Don't mess with Texas!"
