Mr. Nasty Pimpslaps The Champions For Their Gold

Mr. Nasty Pimpslaps The Champions For Their Gold

Posted: Oct 15th 2014 By: CMBurnham

2014 looks like it may be the Year of the Pimp.

Robert Lee was certainly a breakout star in his initial year in wrestling, but this year, he has stepped up his game quite a bit. Competing exclusively in UWE and WFC, Lee has gone on to hold singles titles in both feds and hopes to close out 2014 by becoming a Triple Crown champion.

Lee became the first WFC Hometown Heroes Champion last September, defeating Dexter Hardaway for that title. In the intervening time, veteran competitor Striker made it clear that he wanted to be the man to unseat Lee and on May 18, he did just that, defeating Lee in Broken Arrow for the championship. Striker, a cancer survivor himself, said after the match that this title meant the most to him and he looked forward to defending it with honour whereever WFC held their events.

Lee invoked his rematch clause at a special fundraising event for the Boys & Girls Club in Broken Arrow on May 31, but was unable to regain the title. A subsequent 6-man tag team match saw Lee no more successful as he, Braxx & Fuel fell to Striker, Tim Rockwell and Brian Breaker.

But that appears to have been something of a wake-up call for Lee as since then, he has been undefeated in WFC and only suffered one loss in UWE. Lee faced Brandon Walker at the July 20th WFC event and soundly defeated the veteran competitor. After the match, he took the microphone and announced that he wanted one more opportunity at the WFC Title, but this time, he wanted to take on Striker alone. No Stevie Caballero or Caballero Cartel at ringside. This was an odd announcement coming from him and it didn't really seem to sit well with Caballero, but he was preoccupied with Tim Rockwell and at the September 7th event, made it clear that Lee needed to come through and bring the gold back to the Cartel. It also seemed that Caballero was favouring Jon Cross as the top man in the group rather than Lee. Perhaps all that provided motivation to Lee, as he entered the title opportunity with more determination than had been seen in recent months.

Striker and Lee fought a clean match in front of a crowd that had been through some of the most amazing matches that WFC had put on, but were still invested in seeing how this concluded. They wanted a clean decision. Lee and Striker wanted a clean decision. But Striker's son, Maddox Jones, made it clear that there would not be a clean decision in this match as he took it upon himself to appear at ringside and argue with the champion. When Striker went over to confront Jones, Jones executed a stunner-like move on Striker while Lee's back was turned. Lee then connected with the Spin Kick and put the champion down for the 3-count.

Once he realised what had happened outside the ring, Lee was not happy with the circumstances of the win and initially didn't want to accept the title. Striker insisted, ackowledging that the effort Lee had made had shown good faith and that he had not relied on help from the Cartel to get the title back. Striker went on to encourage Lee to do the right thing and shrug off the Cartel, allowing him to stand on his own two feet like the man that he and the WFC fans knew he could be.

The WFC Title was not the only title that Lee has put around his waist in the past few months. Lee avanged his one loss to American Made by defeating him in July for the WE United States Title (thanks in part to some distraction from Anarchy 2nd and Zakk Sinizter). Lee then continued his winning ways by teaming with Tim Rockwell and defeating Brian Breaker & Fuel in August. Then, at the biggest event of the year for UWE, Lee defeated Brian Breaker to retain that US Title.

Lee now looks to make himself a Triple Crown Champion as he is set to face UWE Champion Fuel in a Title-vs-Title Match on November 18. If Lee is able to wrest the newly won title away from Fuel it will certainly cement him as one of the most improved stars in 2014. Additionally, Lee must also be prepared to defend his title against whoever wins the Rumble For A Cause, which will feature many old and new faces on the WFC Roster. The new champion most certainly understands that his gold makes him a heavy target.

But all that gold will sure be a nice addition for "Mr. Nasty"
