5-17 TNA iMPACT
Sting came down to the ring to confront TNA World Champion Kurt Angle. He admitted that Angle made him tap out at the Sacrifce PPV. But he had Christian Cage pinned and wasn't sure what happened. Sting said he thought there was a big question mark hanging over the decision. Cage stormed out at this point and said everyone was talking about doing the "right thing". So was he. He brought up that the TNA rulebook says that if there is no clear cut winner in a title match, the title stays with the champion. Therefore, the "right thing" to do is for him to take back the title and strap it around his waist. Jim Cornette then spoke up and said that if Cage thinks Cornette has been biased against him so far, it's about to get much worse. Cornette agreed that there was lots of controversy in the match, but Cage did have his shoulders pinned to the mat, so he is NOT the World Champion. Cornette said he has all the respect in the world for Sting, but Sting tapped, so Sting is NOT the World Champion. He then took the title from Kurt Angle and announced that he wanted an undisputed champion. He said maybe it was time for some new blood to be in the mix, citing names like Rhino and Samoa Joe, who mow down their competition, but rarely get title shots. He said there is no glass ceiling in TNA. Cage complained that he had beaten both the guys that Cornette named and Cornette responded that he shouldn't have a problem doing it again! For the next 5 weeks, there would be qualifying matches for a King of the Mountain match at the Slammiversary PPV. The man who wins that match will be the top dog in TNA and the TNA World Champion.
Jeremy Boras was backstage interviewing Sting. Sting said he's not going anywhere. If he has to qualify for a World Title shot 3 or 4 times, he'll do it. Christopher Daniels then walked in the interview area and announced that he had followed the path, just like Sting had said. Sting said he didn't know what Daniels was talking about. Daniels responded that he used to be lost, but now it seems like it's Sting that's the lost one.
Laticia was in Jim Cornette's office where he announced that next week's KOTM Qualifying match would be Sting vs. Samoa Joe. The Steiner Brothers then busted down the door (literally) and Scott Steiner demanded a match against TNA World Tag Team Champions Team 3-D. Cornette agreed, smelling a money match. The Steiners left, with Rick apologising about the door. The show ended.
