Roc Gets What He Wished For, But Maybe Not What He Wanted

Full scale warfare seems to have begun in MSWA and, at least at the moment, it appears the wrong side is winning.

Since declaring war on owner Bad Boy and commissioner C. M. Burnham, The Roc-N-Roll Cowboy and The Saints of Pro Wrestling have shown a concentrated unity in what they plan to do. They want to take over MSWA and allow Roc to have the position he feels should have been is all along. Roc's veteran knowledge combined with the diverse membership of the Saints have certainly made it difficult for Burnham, but recently Roc seemed to do what he always said he could do: outsmart his opponent.

Bad Boy certainly seemed to have the upper hand when the show bean one month ago. Burnham had called Bad Boy, Glen Steel, and Les Mayne in to the ring at the beginning of the show to address some issues. The Saints attempted to make a surprise entrance, but it was the Saints who were surprised when Bad Boy had reinforcements come in from the back, including the return of Outlaw! An absolute donnybrook occurred with the end result being that Bad Boy and his associates held the ring while the Saints were left on the outside. Bad Boy then announced that Roc was banned from the building for the duration of the show due to his masterminding the assault on MSWA Oklahoma Champion Spike and Misty Lynn the previous show. Roc was outraged, but was escorted out of the building and the show continued.

Bad Boy did not know he had a mole in his group, but he probably should have suspected it. Roc and Outlaw are former brothers-in-law and apparently it was Roc who initiated contact with Outlaw before Outlaw came in to help Bad Boy. This was revealed at the end of the show as Les Mayne had defeated Larry Canyunga to become the #1 contender to the MSWA Mid-South Title. The Saints, under the direction of Outlaw, hit the ring and soon afterwards, the rest of the locker room appeared and it was a pier six brawl! But in the course of the fisticuffs, Bad Boy crossed the line, becoming physical with one of the security guards and refusing to calm down. This resulted in him being arrested and taken to jail for his actions.

Burnham had to work overtime in conjunction with the MSWA attorneys to ensure that no lawsuits would be filed and Bad Boy could be released from his holding cell. And in the intervening two weeks, it seemed that everything had calmed down. No overly aggressive posts were made on the Saints Facebook page. No threatening videos were posted by Roc. And the Saints did not even make their presence known for the first half of the event on August 24. But right after intermission, Burnham came to the ring to announce some special guests for the September 21st event. And then the music hit and Saints came out in full force. They surrounded the ring and appeared to be preparing for a gang-style beating of the MSWA commissioner, but Roc waived them off and stepped forward himself. Snatching the microphone, Roc stated clearly and without any hesitation that he wanted to make a gentleman's proposal. Burnham could pick any member of the locker room and Roc could pick any of his Saints. If Burnham's man won, things would remain the same. If Roc won, he would be in control of MSWA. Burnham reminded Roc that this was the scenario that played out when Shawn McKeaigg was ousted as MSWA commissioner and replaced by Burnham. Expecting history to repeat itself, Burnham confidently called on Glen Steel. After a quick consultation, Roc chose Shawn Sanders.

This brought Bad Boy to ringside, who seemed very concerned, but Burnham attempted to quell those fears, saying that everything was going to be fine. Burnham remained at ringside and Roc and Scott Sanders stayed to support the Saints. As should have been expected, Roc used his presence to distract referee Terry Pantera, putting Glen in a bad situation. And it was one of those distractions that allowed Scott Sanders to interfere. As Roc was talking with the ref on the apron, Glen pursued Shawn around the ring, but ran afoul of Scott and a well-placed cookie sheet, which knocked Glen loopy. Scott then rolled Glen back into the ring and Shawn hit his vicious finisher. Burnham could only look on in horror as the referee counted three.

Roc had done it. He had finally wrested control of the company from Burnham. But he was not done. As his first official action, Roc announced that Burnham was fired! It was a humiliating moment as Burnham found himself escorted from ringside much as Roc had been the previous show.

In truth, Roc could NOT fire Burnham and that was revealed after the MSWA Oklahoma Title match between Spike and Buster Cherry. But Roc DID have the power to suspend 3 members of the MSWA roster for one show and he used that power not only on Burnham, but on Spike and Les Mayne. Even though Burnham was still technically in control of the show, it seemed like Roc was calling all the shots.

But this show ended as so many of the others had, with a huge brawl between the Saints and the MSWA roster. And in the midst of it, Burnham simply came out and observed. He watched as Roc stood in the middle of the ring, unable to bring order to the chaos around him. And then, very calmly, he took the microphone and reminded Roc that this was what he had asked for. As of September 7th, Roc was in care of the asylum. Burnham would not be there to help. And Bad Boy would certainly be there to make Roc's life miserable! The look of fear that crept across Roc's face told the story: He had gotten what he had wished for and it was not what he expected.

Roc and the Saints now have several missions to accomplish at the next MSWA event, but the priority seems to be that Bad Boy and Glen Steel have agreed to a 2-on-3 Handicap Match against any combination of the Saints. Having failed in recent attempts to capture both the Tag Team and Oklahoma Titles, The Saints will have to put together an impressive showing under Roc's regime. Failure would certainly be humiliating to endure.
