RiverDogs host Braves for four-game homestand

CHARLESTON, SC - Sandwiched between road trips of four and eight games, the Charleston RiverDogs make a quick stop at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park to play a four-game series with the Rome Braves, May 16-19.
To add excitement the first of six series between Charleston and Rome this season, the RiverDogs will entertain fans with a slew of promotions and activities during the homestand.
The series' first game is Wednesday, May 16, with a 7:05 start time, as The Joe celebrates Military Appreciation Night presented by Force Protection Industries, Inc., and Cat Country FM. Famous professional wrestler Sgt. Slaughter will be on hand to sign autographs and put Charlie the RiverDog in his signature "Cobra Clutch." The RiverDogs will give away 1,000 camouflage baseball caps courtesy of Force Protection, which will also showcase an armored military vehicle outside the park. Fans will get to witness a tug-of-war between military branches, and the Charleston Air Force Base and Navy Nuclear Power Training Command will perform the National Anthem.
Thursday, May 17, is another Thirsty Thursday with an I Like Green Hot Dogs theme, presented by Wild Wing Caf? and 95 SX. In addition to $1 drink specials, $1,000 will be wrapped in randomly selected hot dogs in denominations of $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 for lucky fans whose hot dogs are "green." First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
Friday Night Fireworks will again illuminate the night sky and the Ashley River below on May 18, as the RiverDogs celebrate Girl Scouts Night with a Shrek as in Wreck theme, sponsored by Cricket Communications, The CW and The Drive at 100.5 FM. The RiverDogs will give away Shrek the Third and display Shrek clips on the video board, plus a Forrest Gump look-alike will be on hand to promote the following day's Run, Forrest, Run 5K, which concludes at home plate of Riley Park. Friday's game is also set to begin at 7:05 p.m.
The final day of the homestand, Saturday, May 19, offers fans another chance at cash prizes with It's Raining the BOSS's Money, plus an umbrella giveaway, all presented by Sun Trust and WTAT-TV Fox 24. The RiverDogs will hand out 1,000 umbrellas and select 30 fans at random to run onto the field after the game to collect as many $1 bills as they can out of 1,000. A George Steinbrenner look-alike will be present to watch his money go to 30 lucky fans.
After the homestand, the RiverDogs take a rare off day before heading to Columbus and Rome for a pair of four-game series.
