WFC's "The Fight for Brody" packed with action
Posted: Jul 13th 2014 By: Mike Iles
Wrestling For a Cause returns to the Broken Arrow Boys & Girls Club on Sunday, July 20th for a pro wrestling card filled with hard hitting action, and it is all for Brody Christian, who is fighting neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that results when immature nerve cells become cancerous rather than maturing into functioning nerve cells.
The show will be hosted by Rick Vyper, a well known radio personality in the Tulsa area. Vyper has already had his hands full and the show hasn't event started. He has made 2 matches that have implications from WFC's "Hometown Heroes" show on May 18th.
At "Hometown Heroes" we saw Tim Rockwell take on Braxx of The Caballero Cartel. It was originally thought that Rockwell picked up the win over the Cartel's powerhouse, but Big Stevie Caballero, who was also the host for the event, claimed that Braxx had his foot on the bottom rope and ordered the match restarted. Braxx ended up winning the match by Countout when Caballero handcuffed Rockwell to the ring post and Rockwell couldn't get back in the ring before the 10 count. Vyper has ordered a rematch and you can bet that Rockwell won't get outsmarted again.
Jon Cross seems to have a distinct hatred for Brian Breaker. Their match at "Hometown Heroes" was their first in their feud. At "The Fight for Brody", the feud take on a entirely new spin as Breaker teams up with "Mr. Saturday Night" Michael Barry to take Cross & "Larger Than Life" Jermaine Johnson in a tag team match. Barry and Johnson are no strangers to each other as Johnson defeated Barry is his pro wrestling debut and they have faced each other numerous times over the years. Although it is officially 2 on 2, both Cross and Johnson will have their managers, Big Stevie Caballero and "The Butterscotch Stallion" Mark Wilson respectively, at ringside with them. Barry and Breaker might need an extra pair of eyes to watch their backs.
Plus, in a match announced at "Hometown Heroes", it will be the third and final match in the Best of Three Series pitting The K. C. Wolves vs. A. C. Slaughter to become the 1st ever WFC Tag Team Champions. But this third and final match has an added stipulation. The titles will be decided in a Ladder Match. The first team to climb the ladder and retrieve the titles hanging from the ceiling will be the first ever champions. Match #1 was a gentlemanly match in which after Slaughter won, the two teams shook hands and wished each other luck going forward. Match #2 was a little different as Slaughter showed their mean streak and determination, by breaking rules throughout the match. The Wolves had their back against the wall and picked up the win to even the series. Both teams will be pulling out all the stops to be the first champions.
But that's not all. New WFC Hometown Heroes Champion Striker is set to defend the title against Damon Windsor. Striker is no stranger to Windsor as they have wrestled against each other in the past. Windsor is making his WFC debut and wanting to make a good first impression.
There will be plenty of other stars on hand including former champion "Mr. Nasty" Robert Lee, Fuel, Los Calientes (Paul Puertorico & Roberto Camacho), Los Combatientes Machos (Macho & Muy Macho), Anarchy, and many more.
Tickets will be on sale at the door for just $5. Doors open at 1pm and the show starts at 2pm. It is family friendly wrestling show so bring everyone and anyone. There will also be a silent auction. All proceeds go to the Christian family to help with Brody's fight against cancer.
