Oklahoma names rank impressively in Texas!

With the popularity of Pro Wrestling Illustrated?s "PWI 500", there have been countless lists of top wrestlers in different parts of the country including WWE recently starting a "Power 25". Oklafan.com is set to release its first ever "Oklahoma Top 50" and Indywarz has just released its "Texas Top 100" last week.

Indywarz is an internet based radio show and also hosts a message board. Indywarz began their poll in 2002 and they ranked the Top 40 wrestlers in Texas. The list has now grown to 100 and some wrestlers that have Oklahoma experience are scattered throughout the list. Plus a couple of wrestlers with TNA experience also appear with Hotstuff Hernandez ranked #1 and Lance Hoyt #7. Former 2-time NWA World Tag Team Champion Manny Fernandez checked in at #75.

The wrestlers in the Texas 100 that have some Oklahoma experience include Jeff Brown (#19) and his brother Jerry Brown (#22) who worked for MSWA in May of 2005 where they lost to the team of Dexter Hardaway & Kenny Campbell. Current Heavyweight Champion of Professional Championship Wrestling in Arlington, Tim Storm (#26) worked for Fellowship of Christian Wrestling in November of 2003 where he won a Holy Rumble Match then later lost to FCW Heavyweight Champion Brandon Groom. Al Jackson (#27) worked 2 shows for the now-defunct NWA Oklahoma in April of 2004 first beating Tejas in Ponca City to retain the NWA Texas Title, then dropping the title to Tejas in Perry. Bobby 2 Badd (#51), one half of the NWA Texas Tag Team Champions Texas Trailer Trash, competed for NWA Oklahoma in September of 2004 as he teamed with Harley Johnson and wrestled to a double countout against The Midwest Express. Steve DeMarco (#63) competed at the OCW Lucha Libre show in December 2002 where he and Rebello Negro lost the Texas Xtreme Wrestling Tag Team Titles to Papa Don & Skull Manson. Dave The Rave (#87) wrestled on the last OCW show losing to Bryan Justice and also wrestled for SRPW in December 2003 when he teamed with Justice and lost to Shane Morbid and Dirty Harry Sanchez.

There are also three wrestlers that have spent considerable time in Oklahoma rings that were ranked in the Texas Top 100. Dusty Wolfe, who wrestles in IZW and MSWA as Doink The Clown, is ranked at #28. Wolfe competes as Doink regularly most recently defeating Julian Wolfenbarger in IZW and Shawn Sanders both in November.

"Handsome" Jack Legacy began the year of 2005 using his original ring name Jack Dalton and wrestling for both SRPW and also Professional Championship Wrestling in Arlington. In PCW, he and Adam Thornstowe made a name for themselves battling The Brown Brothers for the PCW Tag Team Titles. He and Thornstowe had a falling out which lead to Thornstowe relocating back to Reno, NV. Dalton continued in PCW and ended up winning the PCW Tag Team Titles with Canyon. He also transformed himself into Jack Legacy but only in SRPW, where he is the current Boys & Girls Club Champion. He continues to be known as Jack Dalton in PCW. He checks in at #58 in the Texas Top 100.

Slam Shady is ranked at #90 in this year?s Texas Top 100. While Shady has made a name for himself in Texas working for TPWA and other federations, he has also started to work some dark matches for WWE as well. He was also quite successful in NWA-Universal and had started making his climb up the ranks for the top contenders to the NWA Oklahoma Title. He lost the final match in NWA Universal history when he was pinned by former WWE superstar and Oklahoma native Charlie Haas.
