The Leader Returns! Johnny Z Comes Back To Make A Sudden Impact
Posted: May 23rd 2014 By: CMBurnham
For two months, the wrestling world waited.
At Coronation, the biggest event in IZW history, Johnny Z defended the IZW Title in the Impact Chamber against 9 other men. Johnny Z and constant foe Double D were first two in and the last two remaining when the match drew to its close. Both men had survived for over an hour in the match, but that was how much the IZW Title meant to them. Then in the closing moments, the unexpected return of Convict turned the match on its head. The masked behemoth made his way to the ring and pulled the door off the cage. When he he entered, it seemed as if Johnny Z was once again going to wriggle away with his title as Convict unleashed a 15-20 on the challenger. But then, in one of the most shocking moments of the night, Convict also unleashed his rage on Johnny Z. Convict then left the cage with the entire crowd confused as to his motivation. But even more questions were posed when Double D jumped from the top of the cage and connected with the High Cross Body on Johnny Z to regain the IZW Championship.
That was the last time anyone saw Johnny Z in the Impact Arena for 2 months. And almost as soon as he left, the assemblage of talent that is Impact Elite began to crumble apart. Although Erica was able to regain the IZW Queens Crown from Miss Diss Lexia, it did not do enough to bring back the "Natural Born Leader". Week after week, Jordan Jacobs hosted the Lights Out Lounge and attempted to find some way to bring John back. But perhaps the most distraught of the entire group was Kevin Morgan. Morgan seemed completely lost and directionless without Johnny Z there to guide him. And even being named the number-one contender to the IZW Title did not immediately do anything to calm the panic that was building in the "Image of Fear".
But then, Morgan came to believe that if he could regain the IZW Championship FOR John, perhaps that would be enough to lure the IZW owner out of hiding. And that became Morgan's mission. Week after week, as Double D was successful in match after match, Morgan would unleash post-match punishment, softening up the ribs of Double D. One week before "Sudden Impact", Morgan put Double D through a table on the outside of the ring. It seemed like the plan was in full effect.
When it came time for the main event at Sudden Impact, it appeared things might finally be in Impact Elite's court. All they had to do was capture the IZW Championship which would raise expectations from the crowd for them. Then, maybe, Johnny Z would come home. And with an injured Double D entering the match, it was clear from the beginning what Morgan's ring strategy would be: focus on the ribs. Concentrate on the injured mid-section. And that is what he did for the majority of the match. As Double D attempted to stick and move, Morgan pressed a power game, dominating with his size and power.
But then, just as he had done at "Coronation", Convict once again made an unexpected return. As he came to the ring, the questions once again went through everyone's head: Why is he here? Who is he targeting? Is there any way to stop him? Convict again showed that he appeared to be solely interested in brutality as he laid out first Kevin Morgan and then Double D. And then, the moment everyone in the Impact Arena had been waiting for as the entrance music for Johnny Z came over the speakers and the "Natural Born Leader" returned to the arena. Z's eyes locked with the Convict and never wavered as he entered into the ring.
But then, in a moment that shocked everyone, Z began to unleash fury on Double D. Fans stared open mouthed in astonishment as Z and Convict seemingly worked in tandem. At one point, Z could clearly be seen whispering something in Convict's ear, showing that the Leader was still leading. But given what had happened the last two times these people were in the ring together, it seemed completely unbelievable that they would end up on the same side. And when the devastation was over, Z delivered one last blow, firing his most loyal disciple Kevin Morgan from IZW!
Impact Elite had longed for the return of the man they proclaimed as their saviour. But now that they have received what they asked for, it seems like IZW will still be just as chaotic for all the members of Impact Elite as before. Johnny Z has made it clear that this is his kingdom and he will run it as he pleases. And with an apparent alliance with Convict, who can possibly stop him from doing whatever he wants to do?
