Championship Woes Plague Stackhouse Around Northeast Oklahoma

Championship Woes Plague Stackhouse Around Northeast Oklahoma

It's a great time to be Sam Stackhouse.

And yet, it's a challenging time to be Sam Stackhouse.

Stackhouse recently captured two titles in a one week span: He beat Warhammer for the SRPW Title on April 26th in a Triple Threat Match that also involved Cody Burns. This makes Stackhouse the only 3-time SRPW Champion in the company's history.

One week later, Stackhouse got the opportunity to face ComPro Showtime Champion Steven Sterling for that title. Stackhouse had earned that right by beating Matt Majestic the month before. But the match was not without some controversy. Earlier in the night, Spike Lopez had faced Super Skunk Ape, Jr. in a qualifying match for the 6-Man Scramble match for the Showtime title that will be held on June 7. Skunk Ape pinned Lopez and referee Steve Shotzman counted to 3, but Lopez had his foot under the ropes during the pin. Both Lopez and his valet Misty Lynn attempted to point this out to the referee, but he had not seen it, so the decision stood.

As the Showtime title match ended, Lopez came out to once again to argue the point. Skunk Ape followed suit and battled with Lopez around the ring. And then Majestic, snuck in while the referee was busy with the previous two and hit a dropkick from the top rope on Stackhouse. It appeared that revenge and karma had found their way to Stackhouse, but moments later, he connected with the Black Hole Slam and pinned the championship to take the title away.

Stackhouse did not have a lot of time to enjoy his victory as ring announcer C. M. Burnham entered the ring and reminded Sam that, as the new Showtime Champion, he was now the man with the target on his back when it came to defending that title. Skunk Ape had already qualified as one of the competitors. Steven Sterling had an automatic rematch and would be placed in the match as well. Burnham had seen the issue with Lopez's foot that the referee had not seen, so it made sense to him to put Lopez in the match as well. And since Stackhouse had beaten Matt Majestic for the opportunity to compete for the title, there should be no problem with him being in Scramble match as well. That left only one competitor still to be announced, but that would remain a mystery until June 7th came around. The panicked look on Stackhouse's face told the story. He obviously did not realise the consequences of his victory.

And two titles may not be enough for Stackhouse. On April 19, Stackhouse won a Battle Royal, giving him the right to challenge for any BPPW Title that he wants to. The obvious choice would be BPPW Champion Brandon Groom and if Stackhouse is successful, he could become the first Triple Crown Champion in Oklahoma this year.
