Straitjacket Shenanigans!

Straitjacket Shenanigans!

Posted: Mar 1st 2014 By: CMBurnham

How do you prepare for the unpredictable? For someone who is not quite sane? For the extremely dangerous?

Since bursting on the Oklahoma wrestling scene five months ago, ComPro Showtime Champion Patient Zero as gained much of his success because he is, at best, a loose cannon. His background is unknown. His skills are uncertain. And he seems unable (or at least unwilling) to follow basic rules and expectations for wrestling. In many ways, he is the type of performer reminiscent of The Missing Link or Kamala, a wild force of nature that has to be controlled by someone.

And that control lies in the hands of the very tempting, yet very evil, Nurse Sanity. But the control appears to be tenuous at best. Sometimes even Sanity appears to be frustrated and confused as to how to handle Patient Zero.

Nevertheless, this combination as been tearing up rings in Northeast Oklahoma. And on December 7th, Zero celebrated Pearl Harbour Day by capturing the ComPro Showtime Title from Steven Sterling. But that isn't enough for the masked competitor as he has now set his sights on OWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Michael Wolf, wanting to add even more gold to his collection.

On January 18, Patient Zero and Clint Cassidy faced off in a battle of contenders for the OWA Junior Heavyweight Title. Cassidy had obviously never faced anyone the likes of Zero before, but was eventually able to forge an upper and in the match and appeared to be on his way to a victory. Then, as she is often prone to do, Nurse Sanity sprayed a rag with an ether-like substance and smothered the face of Cassidy while Zero kept the referee occupied. This allowed Zero to gain a quick and easy win.

This past Saturday, Zero and Cassidy faced off against each other again and it appeared history was going to repeat itself, but this time referee Jamil Haynes saw Sanitys interference and called for a DQ. Zero didn't seem to care that he had lost the match and instead, he and Sanity worked together to put Cassidy in the confines of a straitjacket. After what surely seemed like an eternity to Cassidy, Michael Wolf came to his defence and the unpredictable duo chose to make a strategic withdrawal.

But new OWA commissioner C. M. Burnham was quick to remedy the situation and set up a title opportunity between Wolf and Zero. Since both are regular competitors in ComPro, Wolf was more familiar with the tactics tat Zero was likely to employ. What he didn't expect was for Wolf to attack him before the match actually began. And Zero took advantage of that shortcoming, blindsiding Wolf and battling with him on the outside of the ring for a couple of minutes before officially starting the match. Wolf was able to recover and eventually Nurse Sanity was once again up to her old tricks as her interference caused a DQ again. This time, Sanity and Zero tried to put Wolf in the straitjacket, but Cassidy returned the favour from before and drove the crazy couple away.

Quick to remedy the situation, Burnham made it clear that he had a plan for Patient Zero that would involve the straitjacket and Michael Wolf was very curious to find out what that plan was. So Wolf came out to question Burnham about it. Burnham revealed that he planned to set up a Straitjacket Match between Wolf and Zero for the title. According to Burnham, Wolf didn't have to accept the match, but it seemed like the only way to ensure that the situation was fair. After asking the crowd for some feedback. Wolf accepted and the match was official for April 19.

Wolf will be able to get a small preview of April tonight at the ComPro event when Zero defends the Showtime Title against Steven Sterling in a Straitjacket Match. And rumour has it that Zero suffered an injury to one of is arms during the title match. The extent of that injury is unknown at this time, but may have an effect on both matches. The question now on Wolf's mind must be: Is Zero really crazy and unpredictable? Or has he been using that as a tactic this whole time to gain a massive psychological edge?

How do you plan for that which you cant understand?
