Mick Foley Thoughts On Elimination Chamber And Tonight's RAW

"FOLEY PREDICTION: RAW OF THE YEAR TONIGHT! (new and improved version of my earlier post)
Yes, as frustrated as I've been with WWE recently, I really believe tonight's episode of RAW has a chance to be the episode of the year. Despite some recent evidence to the contrary, the people in charge at WWE are just too smart to allow Wrestlemania - their biggest event of the year to take place with so much of its fanbase down on the product.
Following my frustration last month with the Rumble, for the first time in many years, I personally sent messages to the three primary powers in charge of WWE and expressed my frustration. I won't tell you which one answered, but their comment was 'Mick, as an author, you should know not to judge a book by its cover.'
Following last night further frustration with the outcome of The Elimination Chamber, I was about ready to close that figurative book, and tuck it away without finishing it, but I HAVE to believe, that with today being the launch of the WWE Network, making it one of the biggest days in company history, the company should understand that there is just too much to lose by leaving so much of its fanbase frustrated and unhappy heading into their biggest event of the year.
Surely, they must realize that they can't leave a Wrestlemania main event of Orton and Batista to drown in the giant wave of boos that we all know will come crashing down on them in the Superdome. Like many of you, I have a few scenarios inside my head that would almost immediately turn those recent frowns upside down. But, it's do or die time for WWE. They need to deliver BIG-TIME tonight, and they certainly have the right people on the roster to make that happen. That's not to say that tonight's show will make everyone happy, but I have to believe that a large percentage of viewers will be far more excited about the prospects for Wrestlemania by the time RAW goes off the air tonight.
But I think WWE needs to accept (PLEASE listen to me here, any WWE writer, exec, or power in charge) that the ability to turn the tide hinges on finding a way to make Daniel Bryan part of that main event. For me, personally, as a wrestler, a good feud was just as important as a title shot. But the WWE Universe has been on a personal journey with Daniel Bryan, and from the 1,000's of messages I've read, not a single member of that Universe will feel that their journey is complete without Daniel getting a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania. PLEASE forget about the idea of Daniel Bryan vs Triple H, or Daniel Bryan vs Kane at Mania. They are both potentially great match-ups at a later time - but not for Mania. There are times when you really do need to give the people what they want...and this is one of them.
Timing in the wrestling business, as in much of life, is everything. If WWE has that magic bullet in its chamber they NEED to fire that shot that will be heard around the world TONIGHT! Waiting any longer would, in my opinion, greatly harm that essential timing, and make the process of getting the WWE Universe motivated for Mania far more difficult.
In the interest of full disclosure, I admit that I do stand to gain from a 'RAW of the year' type episode. The money I have spent on Wrestlemania tickets. airfare and lodging will seem almost instantly like a much wiser expenditure. But more importantly, getting you guys (and ladies) excited about the biggest event of the year will greatly increase the enthusiasm for my #WrestlemaniaDreamVacation raffle, in which 100% of the proceeds wil go to RAINN - the largest anti-sexual assault organization in the US. Because, should we get that amazing episode of RAW, all of a sudden, the idea winning the raffle: round-trip airfare to New Orleans from ANYWHERE in the world, 2 great tickets for Wrestlemania, 2 great tickets for the Hall of Fame, 2 tickets to Axxess, lunch with Brie Bella and the WWE Divas, breakfast with me, and $1000 spending cash will seem so much more enticing!"
