6-Year-Old Green Country Boy Fights Cancer For The Third Time

A Green Country community is trying to raise enough money to help a 6-year-old beat cancer for the third time.
FOX23 went to Hominy where a local high school gym was turned into a wrestling show and silent auction for the little boy suffering.
The fights that went on inside the wrestling ring might not be real but the battle David is facing outside of this is real and it?s the third time fighting it.
David is a 6-year-old who spills his drink, runs around and laughs. But what you can't tell by looking at him is he's fighting for his life.
Little David told FOX23, ?God's got this,? when asking about his cancer.
Kelly, David?s mom replied, ?God's got this, that's right.?
This kindergartener?s family told FOX23 they rushed him to a hospital because he couldn't breathe in January 2012.
That's when doctors diagnosed him with a rare form of cancer- ganglioneuroblastoma.
?It almost paralyzed my throat a lot but they fixed it so it wasn't paralyzed forever,? said David.
After 10 surgeries, and beating the cancer twice, it's back.
?But we just found a spot on the left side in the muscle and surgery is not an option it?s invading his airway and they are afraid it will permanently damage him,? said Kelly.
And this little fighter is back too.
?It?s just like if you have diabetes you go to a diabetic doctor if you break a leg you go to an orthopedist with him we take him to his specialty,? his grandma Kelly said.
But they don't have the money so the family teamed up with ?Wrestling For a Cause,? who put on a show at the high school gym while the community was watching fake fights, they were also raising money for David?s real fight.
?It makes me feel good, it makes me feel awesome, really awesome to have all this backup because we need it,? explained Kelly.
Even David knows why he needs to get to New York.
?Ya he can fix the type of cancer I have,? said David.
Kelly Kanke's daughter died and she says she can?t lose her grandson.
?When his real mommy died I promised to take care of him to the best of my ability and I am not following through on that promise if I cannot get him to New York,? said Kanke.
FOX23 learned from the family that it raised about $1,200 on Sunday.
Stay with FOX23 and we will keep you updated on this case.
