IZW Violent Valentine Review on GFL.tv
Posted: Feb 5th 2014 By: CMBurnham
?Violent Valentine?, IZW?s first iPPV of 2014 was full of hard hitting action as these weapons of mass destruction exploded on one another inside the Impact Arena in Lawton, Oklahoma. New Champions were crowned while others survived with their titles intact. Find out why IZW has lit the Independent wrestling community on fire with its brand of no nonsense pro wrestling.
In the opening bout, ?Big, Bad and Sexy? Angel Camacho (@A_Camacho0986) looked to retain his Impact Division Championship against former Champion, ?The Urban Legend? Drake Gallows (@DG_urbanlegend) in an Impact Rules Match. The bout spilled outside of the ring almost immediately with Gallows clubbing Camacho down a notch with overhand rights. Camacho fired back with a belly to belly suplex on the ramp. The bout moved into the crowd, when Camacho tossed Gallows over the guard rail and he fell onto the fans. Gallows regrouped to hit a senton bomb from the top rope on Camacho and his cousin Roberto as they stood on the outside of the ring. Gallows continued his onslaught back in the ring with a variety of chair shots to Camacho. But Camacho delivered the move of the night up to that point as he caught Gallows in his tracks, and belly to belly suplexed Gallows up and over the top rope where Gallows plummeted through a table before he hit the concrete on the ground below! Later, Gallows blocked a Samoan drop attempt by Camacho and hit a partial Emo Killer of his own. Gallows readied for another high risk move from the top rope but was pushed off by the once again interfering Roberto Camacho. IZW Commentator Harrison Stone had seen enough and stormed down to the ring giving both Camachos a clothesline! Gallows took advantage of the situation and rose back to the top rope and hit a moonsault on Angel Camacho that was enough to get him the win and the Impact Division Title for the third time in his career! For his troubles, Stone was injured after the bout and had to be carried out of the arena to seek medical attention leaving the commentating duties for the rest of the night to CM Burnham and ?The Butterscotch Stallion? Mark Wilson (@bsstallion).
Up next where the IZW Tag Team Champions What Wrestling Should Be [?Larger Than Life? Jermaine Johnson (@JermaineAboutME) & ?Lights Out? Jordan Jacobs (@JacobsLightsOut) versus the surging KC Wolves [Luke Langley (@LukeLangleyMD) & Graham Bell(@GrahamBellWPE)] with the titles on the line. This was Jacobs first time in the ring since last year when he suffered a severe shoulder injury. Jordan and Langley squared off first. After a quick arm drag by Langley and another takedown he tagged in Bell who hit Jacobs with a drop kick in a bang-bang-bang series of moves by the KC Wolves. A swinging neck breaker by Bell and a double arm drag by the Wolves and Langley was back in. Johnson evened the score when he tagged in getting Langley down against the ropes and teed up for a running double knees to the face by Jacobs. Johnson connected with a baseball slide/drop kick to Langley as Langley hung over the ropes with his head exposed and vulnerable. Langley was able to make the tag moments later as he leaped for Bell?s hand. Bell responded with a springboard clothesline on Johnson from the top rope and a Knuillotine for a two-count. Bell added a backstabber from the top rope to Jacobs moments later. Johnson cut Bell off at the knees with a sitdown power bomb followed by a belly to back facebuster shortly after as WWSB regained the edge. Johnson and Jacobs took turns hitting Bell with move after move including a double knees, side slam and a power bomb of Jacobs onto Bell for a pin attempt. Bell was on his last leg but after an enziguri kick to Jacobs he finally made the tag to a fresh Langley. Langley cleared the ring with a modified chicken wing back breaker to Jacobs and a sitdown body slam on Johnson where Johnson?s head took the brunt of the impact. The KC Wolves then added a double knees to the chest of Johnson by Bell followed by a top rope stomp from Langley but could only get a two-count from the referee before Jacobs clobbered both Wolves with the title belt. The ref called for an immediate DQ and the Wolves lost out on their opportunity to become the new IZW Tag Team Champions.
After the match, WWSB continued to pummel away at the KC Wolves with the belts until Team Bull emerged from the dark and gave WWSB a double spear. They looked to add a double Greetings From Mt. Olympus but WWSB was able to wiggle free and rush up the ramp and avoid any further damage. Team Bull then challenged WWSB to a Title Match at ?Coronation? with an intriguing stipulation. If TB wins, they become the new Champs but if WWSB defeats TB, then TB has to disband their team forever. WWSB accepted the challenge and then The Bronze Bull (@BronzeBull_AN) upped the anted once again by making it a TLC Match!
?The Captain of the Force? Double D (@IZWDoubleD) took on ?The Image of Fear? Kevin Morgan (@TheImageofFear) in a Lumberjack Strap Match next. D attacked Morgan like a rabid dog with fists of fury as the bigger man covered up on the ground. D was determined to make Morgan suffer like he had the week prior when Morgan handcuffed D to a ring rope and whipped D?s back so much that it welted up and bled all over the place. Morgan responded by snatching D in a bear hug then tossing him over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes. Morgan added forearms, punches and knees to D as he kept the high flyer grounded and on the defensive. D escaped a Moment of Fear attempt by driving a knee into Morgan?s face but Morgan responded with a huge uppercut that took D off of his feet. Morgan then gorilla pressed D right out of the ring where WWSB and the Camachos whipped D furiously with leather straps until D was able to dive back into the ring. Morgan had his turn being whipped shortly after as D drop kicked Morgan through the second rope. Windsor, Copycat and The Bronze Bull especially seemed to get their pound of flesh on Morgan. Once action resumed in the ring, Double D managed to grab the leather strap Jermaine Johnson was using on the outside and brought it into the ring and whipped Morgan something fierce! Morgan managed to get the strap out of D?s hand and resumed his attack with a rear chin lock as he looked to rearrange D?s spine with a knee. Morgan added a back breaker next followed by a torture rack as he tossed D outside of the ropes to get whipped some more. Morgan tossed Double D across the ring upon D?s re-entry as Morgan?s size and strength was starting to wear D down. But D?s heart was still beating and he found a way to climb back into the match and it started with his educated feet as he connected with a 6-1-knee and enziguri in successive moves that brought Morgan down. D grabbed the leather strap that was still in the ring and choked Morgan with it in the corner while planting 10 knees into Morgan?s face. D followed up with his finisher, the high crossbody from the top rope and got the pinfall win in a great comeback victory.
Another title match was next Queen?s Crown Champion Miss Diss Lexia (@missdiss_lexia) took on Madam Co-Commissioner Erica (@Lady_Of_Impact). Erica was hesitant to even lock up with MDL and in fact grabbed the mic on the outside of the ring and as Commissioner, decided on the spot in an impromptu moment to make the bout a No DQ Match. Just as the words left Erica?s mouth, WWSB hit the ring and gave MDL a Minority Cutter. Erica hooked a leg and got the pinfall on MDL in a move nobody saw coming. With the suspect win, Erica became the new IZW Queen?s Crown Champion!
Up next, was a tag team match featuring The Brothers Righteous [?The Resurrecter of Reality? Striker (@strikerokb) & O?Malley (@IZWHateMachine)] against ?Big Business? Damon Windsor (@DamonWindsor) & ?The Forgotten Champion? Copycat (@CopycatWrestler). O?Malley and Copycat squared off first. Copycat displayed some nice chain wrestling as he isolated and attacked O?Malley?s arm twisting up hammer locks and arm breakers before tagging in Windsor who connected with a jumping leg drop. Striker tagged in and put Windsor down with a body slam. But a series of back elbows and a suplex by Windsor swayed the momentum again. An Asai moonsault by Copycat followed by a DDT added to Striker?s misery. Later, O?Malley brutalized Windsor by smashing his face into the canvas followed by more punishment from Striker. The Brothers Righteous kept the heat up by constantly having a fresh man on the attack as Windsor?s condition went from bad to worse. A double clothesline by Windsor and O?Malley dropped each man and Windsor rolled out of the way of a senton from O?Malley as he crawled towards his corner looking to tag in Copycat. Copycat came out like a bat out of hell and scoop slammed Striker while Windsor took care of O?Malley in the corner. Windsor followed with a black hole slam while Copycat added a Face Mob knee drop into the mix. The match spilled outside the ring where Copycat took a brutal punch from O?Malley who was wearing a pair of brass knuckles. Striker, the legal man in the match, rolled Copycat back into the ring and scored the pin on a knocked out Copycat.
Mark Wilson made his way down to the ring from the broadcast booth and cut a scathing promo on Jeff Wolfenbarger, the co-owner of IZW. Wolfenbarger had finally heard enough and came down to the ring and put a beating on Wilson that spilled outside the ring where Wolfenbarger tore Wilson?s chest to shreds with several open handed chops as well as busting his eye open with a punch as blood spattered all over Wilson?s face and shirt. Finally, Wilson flipped over the guard rail and escaped into the crowd. Wolfenbarger grabbed the house microphone and issued a challenge to Wilson at ?Coronation? on March 15, a Falls Count Anywhere Match! These two look to be headed down a highway to hell where there promises to be more blood spilled.
In the main event, with the IZW Title on the line, IZW Champion ?The Natural Born Leader & Savior of Wrestling? Johnny Z (@NBL_JohnnyZ) took on the #1 Contender ?Bad? Brad Michaels (@OldSchool_Brad). In the beginning of the match, Z and Michaels displayed some terrific mat-based wrestling. It was a dead heat in the collar and elbow tie ups as both men were fiercely stubborn in trying to exert their physical superiority on one another. Michaels grabbed a double leg for a takedown then cinched up on a side headlock as Z?s leverage was now gone as he was flat on his stomach. Z finally broke free with a side suplex. Michaels continued on the offensive though as the match moved outside the ring where he knife edge chopped Z over and over again. Back in the ring, Michaels readied for a super kick, but Z?s cat like reflexes were able to snatch Michaels? leg out of the air and toss him out of the ring. Z took full control on the outside and whipped Michaels head first into the steel post. Back in the ring, Michaels found success hammering away at Z in the corner until a well-placed flapjack by Z changed the momentum once again in this back and forth battle. Z added a rear chin lock and a few well-placed boots that slowed the pace of the match to Z?s speed as the IZW Champion continued his methodical breakdown of the #1 Contender. Z locked on his trusty cravat hold that tweaked Michaels? neck to a 90 degree angle. But Michaels continued to fight. He broke free with a neck breaker, added a running knee and a body slam as he readied for one, final super kick to end the bout. Z side stepped the kick and added a floatover DDT to the mix as he planted Michaels head first on the canvas. Z missed with a Big Boot in the corner and was left hanging on the ropes helpless. This was the perfect opportunity for Michaels and he took full advantage by landing a perfect super kick onto Z?s jaw. But Z kicked out at two! Michaels went for a piledriver but was back body dropped by Z showing the Champion still had some fight left in him. Z then immediately connected with a Big Boot in the corner but that move only got a two count on Michaels! Michaels connected with another superkick moments later, but unfortunately the ref was caught in the crossfire and unable to count the pinfall. IZW Official Randy Price (@RandyPrice_OSS) checked on the well-being of the ref and then out of nowhere hit Michaels with a piledriver of his own! Price dragged Z on top of Michaels and counted the pinfall himself awarding the victory to Z in a turn of events nobody could have seen coming. The very man Co-owner Jeff Wolfenbarger put in place to keep IZW on the up and up destroyed the main event by letting his own personal agenda seep into the match. The IZW World awaits to hear from Price about his motivations for interfering in the match and helping Z win and they are sure to get their answer next Saturday!
