Sting's Potential WWE Run Would Be Ruined Without Debut vs. The Undertaker

Sting is coming to WWE, and he should have his first match with The Undertaker.
He should, but he probably won't. That's a mistake.
People have been buzzing for years about the possibility of Sting being signed to WWE and working The Undertaker. The last three WrestleMania seasons have featured fantasy talk from fans of seeing this match.
The match is intriguing. Both have classic gimmicks fans of various generations know. Both have gimmicks with elements that make them more than the common man. Both have spectacular resumes of work to show for their careers with title wins and notable matches. Both carried their respective companies (WWE and WCW) at one time or another.
The biggest reason this match is intriguing is that it would be Sting's first ever working for WWE and Vince McMahon. He's the biggest name who has never worked for McMahon. The first match being on the big stage of WrestleMania against one of the greatest WWE attractions ever is how the story should go.
Sting versus The Undertaker won't mean as much if it's not Sting's first WWE match. If Sting is around for a year, speaking, having matches with other talent, he's exposed. The aura is diminished. The selling point of the match has less value.
Sadly, I can see that's going to happen. Sting will make his long-awaited debuted the day after WrestleMania on Raw. That episode has become notorious for big moments such as The Rock and John Cena's match for the next year being made or the return of Brock Lesnar.
I suspect we'll see Sting work a schedule similar to Lesnar. A few matches a year and always available for promotional work, especially with WWE Network.
Sting will have a few matches throughout the 2014 calendar year where he needs to be kept as strong as possible. He needs to remain a strong force who is destined with The Undertaker for WrestleMania 31, while at the same time still putting over guys he's working with. I worry if this is all possible.
The only solution is if a match with The Undertaker didn't have to wait a year and was done at an event like SummerSlam. I'm not against this as it would certainly bring appeal back to one of WWE's classic events.
If the company did the match at SummerSlam in August, it would be less time to keep his character protected. It would also leave WrestleMania 31 open for other options for The Undertaker. The first that comes to mind is a showdown with John Cena.
Sting versus The Undertaker has been a dream match for a long time. I just hope by the time it happens, it's still a dream come true and not an obligation to cross off on a list.
