Update on Hogan & Piper for Wrestlemania 30

Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper are expected to appear at the Wrestlemania 30 festivities in some form or another.

At one point, Piper pitched the idea of himself & a heel CM Punk vs. John Cena & Hulk Hogan for the show, playing off the tag team main event of the first Wrestlemania, but that?s not believed to be the direction WWE is going towards.

One pitch in the company was to reach out to Mr. T (which I know they have at least attempted to do) and reunited the competitors from the main event of Wrestlemania 1 and induct the entire match into the WWE Hallof Fame, which would be a first for the company. That would, if it happens, make two-time WWE Hall of Famers out of Hogan, Piper & Paul Orndorff. They could also include Jimmy Snuka and Bob Orton as well, since they were at ringside for that bout.

One of the big hold ups was getting the company?s relationship with Piper back together. Piper had filmed Legends House, but unlike the rest of the cast, never signed a contract with the company. WWE had been pushing Piper to do so for some time but Piper refused since the lettering of the contract meant a no compete for any reality shows involving wrestling & MMA before Legends House debuted & for a period of time after it aired. Since there was no clear debut in sight, Piper refused to sign since his son is an MMA fighter with the thought process being that if his son ended up with a reality show (let?s say Ultimate Fighter for example) deal that could help his career, Piper didn?t want to not be able to lend his name & assist his son. So, that?s why the two sides hadn?t been working together for some time & possibly why he wasn?t included in WWE 2K14.

WWE and Piper finally came to terms on an agreement last month, paving the way for him to work the Old School Raw & be more involved going forward as they build to Wrestlemania 30.

On the Hogan side of things, at one point, there were plans to have him in Las Vegas for the WWE Network launch & those within the company expected him there as late as the night before. Instead, there was a change and Hogan remained in Tampa, FL where he filmed footage for an upcoming ESPN piece.
