Two Weeks, Two Titles: Brotherhood Causes Mayhem In NE Oklahoma Feds

Opportunistic.

Its the best word to describe the Brotherhood of Mayhem. Circumstances allowed them to vie for two vacant tag team titles and the result was a dual championship for the relatively new team.

In October, ComPro commissioner Mike Iles announced that a tournament would be held to determine the #1 contenders for the ComPro tag team titles, held then by Richie Adams & Terry Montana. But that evening, Adams suffered an injury which forced him to vacate the tag team titles that he and Montana had held for almost one year. So when that tournament began, it has to crown new tag team champions. Malice & Menace 2nd faced off against Los Calientes, who were making a serious impression over at OWA. While the match was by no means a scientific masterpiece, it was successful for the masked duo as The BoM connected with a Rockerplex for the win to advance to the finals.

The other teams entered were the brand new pairing of Graham Bell & X-Static, using the name Heartless, and former SRPW Tag Team Champions Jake O'Brien & Jonah Turk, now known as the Gentleman Hipsters. The experience of the former members of the Golden Alliance proved highly valuable and allowed O'Brien & Turk to advance to the finals.

In December, these two teams faced off against each other to see who would walk away with the tag team old. The BoM had the most experienced member in terms of Malice plus the outside presence of Mischief. The Gentleman Hipsters had the fan support. Again, the brutal force of Menace 2nd, coupled with the duplicity of Malice, allowed the BoM to take advantage of referee Chuck Hinds several times and, in FACT, when the Brotherhood made the pinfall, they pinned the wrong man. That didn't matter to the BoM as they had finally captured their first titles.

But that wasnt the end, as the next week, Malice & Menace faced off in a Triple Threat Match to determine the first OWA Tag Team Champions. To say it was an interesting journey to tag team gold for BoM is a bit of an understatement. 11 teams were entered in the tournament which began in October. BoM defeated The C. I. A. 2.0. Los Calientes (who had yet to adopt that name) def. Crossfire Morrison & SRPW United States Champion Cody Burns. Patient Zero & ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion Ignition took out Steven Sterling & OWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Michael Wolf and ComPro Tag Team Champion Terry Montana & ComPro Showtime Champion & IZW Tag Team Champion Bobby Starr defeated The Swamp Men. That seemed to put The BoM against Starr & Montana in November, but Starr had an IZW booking to fulfill that night, so Montana was allowed to pick a substitute and chose Steven Sterling. The BoM had a much more difficult time with this duo, but were ultimately still successful. And Los Calientes were able to dispose of Patient Zero & Ignition. Two more teams were revealed this night as Prone To Violence defeated Cali Heat. That put three teams in the finals, but promoter John Crow revealed that there was one more team to be entered to the finals in December. That was supposed to be The Innovators, but travel arrangements made it impossible for them to be there. Additionally, when time for the December OWA event came, Striker was booked in IZW and could not be make the OWA event. Crow declared that Maddox Jones would have to forfeit his spot and he and Striker would receive a shot at the titles at a future event, but Jones stormed out to confront Crow, saying that there was no way he was giving up is chance to win his first title, even if it meant he had to compete by himself. Crow protested this decision and seemed very reluctant to allow it, but after a phone conversation with Striker, the decision was made to allow this to be a Triple Threat Tag Team match and that Jones would compete without a partner.

This was a situation that seemed impossible for Jones to be successful in, but certainly was up the BoM's alley. That was assuming they could get past Los Calientes, who wanted revenge for their elimination in the ComPro Tag Team Title tournament. And with the numbers on their side, Malice and Menace took advantage of the situations and captured their second tag team title in as many weeks.

Winning the titles is one thing. Successfully defending them is a totally different issue. But the BoM have proven they are a force to be contended with. And it will take some strong tag teams to dethrone this powerful duo.
