Bikers Ride for a Good Cause

It's a holiday tradition for volunteers to ring the bell at local stores to raise money for the Salvation Army, but sometimes the frigid temperatures get in the way of raising that crucial money for the Salvation Army and the organization has been forced to cancel ringing for the past two days.
While the weather still caused groups to reschedule this morning, one group wasn't letting cold temps damper their day.
"We're the Iron Order and when we make a commitment we stick to it," Carnage said.
Local motorcycle club, Iron Order, had plans to ring the Salvation Army bell Saturday for around two months, then Thursday Old Man Winter came sweeping through Lawton.
but, Old Man Winter hasn't met these bikers.
"It's very cold out here, but like Carnage said if we say we're going to do something we are going to keep our word no matter what," Badbone said.
The bikers of Iron Order say it was more than just staying true to their word but helping the community they call home.
"Like I said earlier just because it's cold or snowing that's when people are in need the most, when the conditions are like what they are right now," Badbone said.
"We want to help our community out and that's more important than us staying out cold for a little while," Carnage said.
Helping the community was the number one goal for the club Saturday, but a secondary goal of erasing a bad perception that many still have toward bikers was also on the minds of the bikers.
"We just want to show the people in this community that just because we have ear rings or tattoos don't necessarily mean that we are bad people," Badbone said.
Lieutenant Israel Roseno of the Salvation Army says the canceling of ringing the last two days could be critical toward reaching their season goal of donations, but having the volunteers out today definitely helped.
"We are not really going to know till the end of the season to see it, but every penny counts that's how we think. Our goal is to help as many people as we can," Israel said.
Lieutenant Israel says the Salvation Army is always looking for volunteers and if you are interested to contact the Salvation Army.
