OMNI Interviews: Paul Puertorico

OMNI Interviews: Paul Puertorico

Posted: Nov 27th 2013 By: mikeiles

Here it is folks the first interview we mentioned earlier today just in-time for you to enjoy at your leisure before tomorrows holiday.

Chance Ryan: Paul first I have to ask........ Puerto Rico........ Is it one word or two?

Paul Puertorico: One word.

CR: It just seems to be a common misconception that it's two, but we'll make sure to address it as one from now on. You?ve recently exploded onto the scene here in OWA. We are quite aware of your extensive background inside the squared circle and we would like for you to share some of your history with the fans, if you don't mind?

PPR: I trained at the OPW School from 1999 to 2000. Bull Schmitt took me under his wing, and I was able to wrestle for NWA-SW in Dallas, Texas; WLW for Harley Race in Eldon, Mo; AAA in Monterey, Mexico and a slew of other promotions. But my career started at OPW. I?ve been a 2x OPW light heavyweight champion and also the OPW Tag Team Champion. I?ve held belts in Oklahoma City, Kansas and Arkansas, as well. I fell out of the business, thinking for good, back in 2005 when my dad passed away. I took it hard. But Bull has helped me along and helped make my comeback possible and I?m looking forward to making more of an impact in Oklahoma professional wrestling than I ever did.

CR: Well, speaking of an impact, you and your partner Roberto Romero have made quite an impressive one, during the OMNI Tag Team Title Tournament. You've made it to the semi-final round as a seemingly unknown and untested pair. How has it been, making your way through to semi-finals in this, your and Roberto's first go as a tag team?

PPR: It was a rocky start at first. His wrestling style isn?t similar to mine at all. He?s powerful. I?m a high flyer, but we're both risk takers. We melded it together nicely during the second round. Now I feel our styles have fused together to make us an unstoppable force in Omni Wrestling Alliance and I couldn?t ask for a better partner.

CR: Well, you two handled both the teams of Cody Burns & Crossfire Morrison and Ignition & Patient Zero fairly easy, once it seemed that you two got on the same page as a team. How will you two prepare for your semi-final round match against a team that is being hyped as "Promoter's Choice" and from what we can tell a team that won't be announced until they're called through the curtain?

PPR: How will I prepare? Hmm...With a delicious mango drink. My raging Mexican and I will put away anyone they put through those curtains. This is about Los Caliente making an impact that sticks in OWA! We're the underdogs. We are hungrier than any other tag team left in the tournament. If it?s the Brotherhood of Mayhem or whoever they take on beats them, it doesn?t matter. Los Caliente will be taking home the belts.

CR: Speaking of the remaining two teams who would you rather face in the finals the Brotherhood of Mayhem or Striker & Maddox?

PPR: Striker and Maddox, of course. Everyone knows Malice and I have a hate-hate relationship and Menace 2nd isn?t any better. I?ve never been in the ring with Striker or Maddox and I?m always up for a new challenge.

CCR: It would sure be an interesting match to see Los Calientes go up against Prone To Violence (Maddox & Striker), as it would be a clash of two fan favorites. Well, we're coming to the end of the interview and I have to ask hypothetically, what will be your future in OWA if you and Roberto happen to fall short of the tag titles? Will you keep teaming with your Raging Mexican, or will you set your path towards a singles title such as the Junior Heavyweight belt?

PPR: If we fall short, then we train harder. I?m a champion without a belt. Tag team gold isn?t all I?m looking for. Junior Heavyweight gold looks pretty too! So look out junior heavyweight division. There?s a tropical storm headed your way.

CR: Well that brings us to the end of the interview. Paul Puertorico, we appreciate your time and thank you for the insight into the ?Tropical Storm?, as you called yourself. We do have one last question as we close out the night, how will you and Roberto Romero celebrate if, hypothetically, you two walk out of Sperry, Oklahoma on December 14th as the first OMNI Tag Team Champions?

PPR: I think I?m going to give out tacos while Robert dances around his hat!
