NEWS
Cleveland Browns football players Barkevios Mingo, Gary Barnidge, and Trent Richardson all sat ringside at "Monday Night RAW" in Cleveland, OH last week. They were given the tickets by Jerry Lawler, who was friends with Barnidge while Barnidge was in college. Mingo and Barnidge posed for photos for the WWF World Tag Team Titles from the 1980's Windham-Rotundo era and said it was fun to wear them even if WWE made them give them right back. Richardson was traded from Cleveland to the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday.

Part 2 of Jerry Lawler on Steve Austin's podcast is available now.

Patrick Lennon of The Daily Star in the United Kingdom posted an interview with TNA World Champion Bully Ray. When asked about Jim Ross, Bully said "I would love to see Jim Ross in TNA. I think TNA could benefit hugely from Jim. On a personal level, when Devon and I signed for WWE, we negotiated with Jim and he was the man who we signed the contracts with. He?s just a top quality person." To read the story, click here.

Jeff Jarrett was backstage at TNA's "Impact Wrestling" taping last Thursday (September 12th) in St. Louis, MO and was described as being involved with the backstage production meeting and working as an agent according to reports. The belief within the company is that Jarett is becoming more involved with the company on the road instead of working behind the scenes from the company's headquarters in Nashville, TN.

Jerry Jarrett, co-founder of TNA with his son Jeff Jarrett, was a guest on "Inside The Ropes" and had several things to say on the current state of TNA. On current TNA president Dixie Carter?s non-wrestling background and how that effects her running a wrestling company, he said "You?ve got to have an unabiding respect for the business or it?s impossible to be successful. When I was in the wrestling business, me and the wrestling business were intertwined. I ate it, slept it, dreamt it. The wrestling business was my mistress. Dixie saw her first match after she had ownership, I think and I know for a fact she has little regard for the tradition or the history of the business. So, if you don?t know what brought you to the dance, how are you supposed to learn from it and build on it. After all this years, it?s pretty obvious that I?m right. TNA today is as closed to being a non factor in the business as you can get." When asked for his thoughts on TNA?s focus on ex-WWE talents, he said "That?s one of the mistakes they made. They can?t seem to get past the fact that when you bring in guys that WWE has let go, fans are going to see them as yesterday?s soup. But of course you have to have someone who knows how to cultivate and create talent otherwise you have no choice but to use whoever?s available, thats named talent. It?s pretty obvious that they don?t have anybody that knows how to create talent. I?m guessing, because I haven?t seen the show in 2-3 years, but I?m sure there?s talent there that could be superstars. Truth, Ron Killings was in TNA and then you saw when he went to WWE how Vince made him into a superstar. In the wrestling business, it?s really not any secret, it?s understanding that if you?re making a movie. what are the ingredients you need? A compelling storyline, a great producer/director and great talent. You mix those ingredients and you get great cinema. But if you take this great star or talent and put him in a stinking movie with a stinking producer director, what do you get? and the wrestling business is a dance between the promoter or booker or writer and the talent. They have to be on the same page and they both have to be good." Asked about TNA?s future, Jarrett said "I am amazed, because when I was there, Bob Carter called me at least two to three times a week and said 'I can?t lose any more money, Jerry' and I said 'You?re needing to talk to your daughter, not to me. She?s running the place.' So I?m amazed that they are in business. I think at this point, it?s safe to say that TNA will continue to be subsidized by Bob Carter until he dies. Then I think TNA will go the way of ECW and the territory days."

Tito Santana is being advertised for both New England Championship Wrestling in Derry, NH and Top Rope Promotions in New Bedford, MA on September 27th. The two cities are less than 125 miles away from each other, so it is possible he could wrestle on both shows.

Former pro wrestler Kelly Kiniski, son of former NWA World Champion Gene Kiniski, was featured in a story about a radio tower that he was afraid would isolate the peninsula near where he lives from the U.S. mainland if there was an earthquake.

Hulk Hogan appeared at Saturday's "WrestleReunion" at Hogan's Beach Restaurant in Clearwater, FL. Jimmy Hart, The Nasty Boys, Demolition and Bobby Heenan among others were there. It had been advertised from the start that Hogan would not be appearing, so it was a surprise.

Robbinsdale High School in Robbinsdale, MN, which has produced a ton of pro wrestlers including Verne Gagne, Larry Hennig, Tom Zenk, Curt Hennig, and John Nord is starting a Hall of Fame. The first induction on October 18th will include Verne Gagne.

Jerry Brisco underwent surgery on his right hand Thursday. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Oklafan congratulates Johnny Z who recently surpassed 6 months as IZW Heavyweight Champion. He was given the title by The Convict on March 23rd at an event in Lawton.

Oklafan extends its condolences to the family and friends of Angelo Savoldi. He was 99 years old and was believed to be the oldest living pro wrestler at the time of his death. Savoldi was a 2nd generation wrestler and all 3 of his sons became pro wrestlers as well. He was a 3-time NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion and a former minority owner of the WWWF. At one point in his career, he was stabbed by the father of Danny Hodge while he and Hodge were feuding. Savoldi competed in 51 documented events in Oklahoma, beginning October 3, 1949 where he defeated Danny McShane and ending on May 10, 1965 when he lost to NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Danny Hodge.

A public visitation and wake for Angelo Savoldi is being held today, Tuesday, September 24th, from 4pm and 8pm at the Par-Troy Funeral Home in Parsippany, NJ.

Smith Hart posted on Twitter "RIP to the great Angelo Savoldi who passed away today at the age of 99".
